Junior quarterback Rakeem Cato came up huge for us in this game going 27-45 passing for 342 yards and 2 TD's, along with 2 more TD's and 92 yards rushing on 14 attempts! This brings Cato's season totals to 2129 Passing Yards (18th in nation), 22 Passing TD's (Tied for 5th), 867 rushing yards (Tie for 7th; 1st among QB's) and 11 rushing TD's (Tie for 2nd; 1st among QB's). He is the definition of dual threat quarterback.
Redshirt sophomore running back Kevin Grooms also had a notable game with 262 total yards and a 94 yard kickoff return TD (80 rushing, 21 receiving, 161 kick and punt return). He should be a major factor in the Marshall offense for the next three years.
As far as recruiting goes, 3* 63 OVR TE Marcus Stephens committed bringing our class to a total of 4 commits so far.
We enter week 12 at 5-4 ready to face MAC foe Kansas for Marshall's senior day. Hopefully we can send these guys out with a bang! This game also carries major recruiting implications, as a win here would be very helpful with landing 4-star Athlete Jerod Singletary, who is visiting for the game.

WE ARE! MARSHALL! WE ARE! MARSHALL! Was the chant heard from Joan C. Edwards stadium until around 2:00 am Saturday night.
The cause of this in stadium party was the 32-31 comeback victory engineered by the Thundering Herd who pulled off a senior day victory to improve to 6-4 on the year and gain bowl eligibility.
Rakeem Cato showed why he is one of the best leaders in the country in this game. He didn't start well, as he only scored 1 TD, while throwing 2 INT's and losing a fumble in the first half. However, Cato played the late third quarter, and all of the 4th quarter with extreme poise throwing 3 2nd half TD's and a two point conversion to give Marshall the win!
3 more players were added to the recruiting class:
3-star ATH, Tony McPherson
4-star WR, Matt Smith
and 2-star DT Michael Dixon
Also, Marshall seems to be in very good standing with 4-star athlete Jerod Singletary, who visited for the game against Kansas.
The Herd have a BYE in week 13, before traveling to Cincinnati to play the Bearcats, who Lead the MAC, in week 14.

Marshall just played their best defensive game this year! They went into Nippert Stadium, and managed to come out with a 27-10 win over #22 Cincinnati! This win was huge for the Herd, who had only won one other road game this season (49-25 over ECU).
Rakeem Cato continues his amazing season, and some people are wondering why he isn't being considered for the Heisman Trophy.

If the Herd win here, they'll clinch at least a share of the Mid-American conference championship! As of right now though, the Marshall holds a respectable 7-4 record, and looks to have a bowl spot locked up.
