Any tips on playing the ball in the air?

When NCAA was first released, I was concerned with how they change the way you play the ball I the air on defense. I've had this game for about since it came out and always had some issues with it. Don't get me wrong, it's not that bad, but the problem is that on certain situations, it's a disadvantage.

It's kind of hard to explain, but one example I could give is when the ball is under thrown a little and you are playing CB, there isn't really a way to back pedal and pick the ball off like in previous games. Another one is like if you are in front of the WR a little or side by side and you can't jump and the CPU will make the right adjustment that the user just cannot make.

Don't get me wrong and I am not trying to brag, but my specialty has always been playing the ball in the air since Madden and NCAA old iterations. I'm pretty good on here too, but just hate some situations where it's impossible to adjust and play the ball and sometimes you know you have to let the CPU do it because as a user, holding "Y" won't let you adjust correctly and I hate letting the CPU do that sometimes.

Sorry for this being so long. But was wondering if was a way to go back to the old control settings where you could backpedal and also just tap "Y" and pick it off. If not, can someone leave some type of tips. I hope you guys understand the issues I am talking about.

I just let the computer AI make the play. Every time I try myself, I get burned. More often than not the CPU makes the right play.

I could be wrong and it could be just for this game mode. But I play SS in Road to Glory and for the PS3, I hold down X and I back pedal

The thing is, I hate letting the CPU play D for me. I try to user as much as I can and I've been doing this since I've been playing Madden and NCAA since I was a kid lol. Certain situations with the change, you just have to watch lol.

Thanks for the response.

Really, X (Well, A for me)? I will try it out and if it works, thanks a lot. Would be much easier if they left it at LT, I am guessing R2 for you.

I turn off auto strafe in the options too. That has a made a big difference with my ball hawking. I love going after the ball in the air user style, but in 2014 the DBs can't catch worth crap. I've had games where I dropped over 10 user picks... every once in awhile they snatch everything, but it's rare.

Guess it doesn't work on Xbox because holding A doesn't do anything for me.
