I agree 100% with the swamp being at #1. If you dont agree, just ask the Bulldogs

Why? The Bulldogs never play there.

Georgia/Florida play at a "neutral" site - (Gator Bowl) not the swamp except back in I believe 94 when they were renovating GB.

South Florida sports fans are admittedly fickle and lax in their attendance. There is no denying that in meaningless games against inferior competition like a Rutgers or now a Duke or NC, it is not uncommon for the OB to struggle to draw a crowd of 50,000. However, for big games (which in NCAA 2005 is when HFA is supposed to impact the game), no other stadium affords the home team as big an advantage as the OB. Even Herbstreit has acknowledged this. First off, for big and/or important games, the fans do pack the place. Obviously, showing up only for these big and important games rightly indicts those Miami supporters as being worse fans than those in Nebraska, Michigan, ND, etc., who sell out no matter who they are playing. Nevertheless, the OB is packed for marquee games. Secondly, the climate is a huge factor that plays into UM's advantage. Aside from the suffocating heat, the opponent must also deal with oppressive humidity that is unparallelled. Simply put, opposing teams wear down in the second half in the OB against the 'Canes, who have the advantage of practicing in this climate year round and the bulk of whose roster is made up of players who are South Florida natives. There is also the matter of accoustics. UM has probably the worst and smallest marching band of any elite team and they only perform after the Canes score and during the halftime show. As a result, throughout the entire game, the OB makes use of its potent sound system to blast deafening music throughout the entire game and pump up the crowd to create a frenzied atmosphere that is absent at many other stadiums. Additionally, the 'Canes smoke-filled entrance and prestigious program can be intimidating to many, particuallarly untested underclassmen. Finally, there is the irrefutable proof of Miami's tremendous HFA: it's numerous, long home win streaks; including the NCAA record 58 gamer and their more recent run that was the longest in the nation until it was snapped by Tennessee this past November. The failure of many UM fans to show up for less meaningful games should hold back the OB's HFA, but it should still be rated in the Top 10 or 12.

Yeah buddy, NU has sold out 262 straight games

Yeah, those sellouts really helped Nebraska out after the 2001 season...

Yeah, and even though we went 7-7 in 02 we still have kept the sellout streak alive. It speaks to the fact that Nebraska fans are loyal to the team through thick and thin. Dog us all you want, but its an impressive streak. (Even though our home win streak sits at an impressive ZERO...haha).

Yeah true, but really what else is there to do in Nebraska. College football is king there. Its a state university where Miami is private so Lincoln has more students that can help fill the stadium along with the alumni. Again, Memorial stadium has great tradition but Miami and the OB has the teams fearing the team not the actual stadium.

Re: Full list of Top 25 Toughest Places to Play...

I can agree with that. I'll go along with the fact that it isn't as intimidating as it once was to have to come to Memorial stadium and a lot of that has to do with the quality of teams we've put on the field.

Regardless of the amount of "stuff" there is to do in Nebraska, there is no other school that comes close to the amount of consecutive sell-outs that Nebraska has claim to. The streak and the pride we have in our program is something that we are known for and something that we take pride in.
