Re: Auto-Subs - What Works?

I swear I remember reading they said they fixed auto subs. Like I said before it’s like Money in the Bank in WWE 2k. They keep saying they fix it but it’s either never fixed right or they just don’t tell us how it works.

Part of the problem is also they don’t have manuals anymore so you never know what 1/2 this stuff does.

All these icons and whatnot. No clue what they do or what they mean. Rather go back to the old days of those novel like instruction manuals. At least you knew what stuff was supposed to do.

If it’s not fixed it’s a big disappointment.

Where do you adjust Auto Subs in Dynasty? It looks like Auto Subs are set outside the Dynasty menus and then you have to enter the Dynasty. Do the Auto Sub settings carry over into the Dynasty?

it does not become available until either the first week you have a game or week zero (I don't know which). It's in the team section when it's available.

You recall correctly, which is why I ask this question lol. From the Gameplay Deep Dive Campus Huddle:

On a subsequent carry, they'll likely come out of the game. However, recovery has been changed to where it'll likely be for only a single play, so they can catch their breath and get right back onto the field.
So far, I'm not seeing this at all on default settings. In fact, right now the player in-game substitution behavior in CFB25 is very familiar to me from my time playing Madden; i.e. there basically is none.

I am reluctant to touch the fatigue slider because I don't want to trigger the age-old issue of a player disappearing forever because his fatigue sinks too low, but maybe that's what it will take to actually see the behavior EA Sports built out here.

Granted, I do not use no huddle very much, and generally speaking my offensive tempo is slow. Perhaps the fatigue effects are greater if you routinely call your plays at the line of scrimmage or frequently use turbo no-huddle, but I've played against no-huddle offenses and haven't seen my defense sub much so I kinda doubt that as well.

I started using these with 70 fatigue last night and I'm really happy with the results. Getting lots of rotation from my running backs and defensive line. But guys come back in after they rest, I've had problems in the past with guys coming out and never coming back in.

Re: Auto-Subs - What Works?

They need to make auto subs a global setting instead of team specific or have both options. The problem is in dynasty you need it set for both teams not just your own. And I'm not going to create coaches for the opposing teams and then retire them because it totally screws up the coaching carousel and the coach progressions for that school.

Re: Auto-Subs - What Works?

With fatigue at 50, I am getting the RB subbed out fairly realistically at 75/80. I haven't paid enough attention to the DL to see if I'm getting a decent rotation there. I've only played exhibition games though; I haven't even gone into Dynasty yet.

If it matters, I've typically been playing 8- or 9-minute quarters with either accelerated clock at 25 or off (since it's not working correctly).

Running turbo, the RB does fatigue faster. But they're still getting subbed out running a regular offense.

On M24, with fatigue at 100 (on Competitive) at 75/80, I get decent - not realistic, but decent - rotation on the D-line, RB and WR. Fatigue is reduced on Competitive, which is why I bumped it up. CF25 doesn't have game styles, so I don't know if it's closer to Competitive or Simulation on Madden.

The default now is 60/80. Back in the PS2 days it was 75/85. That's how I came to my completely unscientific 75/80 setting.

Re: Auto-Subs - What Works?

I noticed far more frequent substitutions with my elevated auto-subs settings when I opened the game no-huddle and enabled the no-huddle tempo option on offense. This is a significant change from my normal slower offensive tempo which typically goes deep into the play clock every snap.

So how to set up auto subs to your liking might be extremely influenced by play style. More investigation is needed, but at least I have confirmed to myself that auto subs work with the default fatigue slider setting lol.
