That's BS.
Wazzu is in the middle of a major renovation of their stadium, so EA probably figured there wasn't much point in making an old stadium if they were just going to have to redo it anyway.

I'm guessing the "filthy" use is an attempt at being edgy and hip. Other than for describing a pitcher's "stuff" I don't believe "filthy" is being used contemporarily in any context as meaning "good" other than random groups of teenagers who like to hang out and use their own little jargon while playing games.

I think it's regional. To a northerner, they may think the "Dirty South" refers to literally how dirty it is south of the Mason-Dixon.

I'd guess the youth creates the overwhelming majority of slang. It always starts with a small group & spreads. How else could it happen? By the time you hear it on tv, the youth is lauging at it, calling it corny. I doubt baseball commentators were the first to use filthy in that way.
