We are close to a perfect game

Alot of small things are holding NCAA and MADDEN from being GREAT.
  • Super LB/DB (20 feet verts)
  • Depth charts problems
  • Fumbles/INT issues
  • Refs and line judges on the field
  • More Presentation
  • More skill based passing
  • Pure "backbreaker" tackles

Other than these small issues we would have a perfect game. Are at least VERY close to a GREAT game of football.

Imagine playing a game with these things fixed. Just having line judges and refs will make a big difference in the feel of playing a "real" game of football and not some arcade one. Make the other changes as well and we will all be in heaven. Combine that with the tackle engine of Endorphine from backbreaker and we would have one of the best football games to grace us.

My take at least on the franchise. We are so close to a excellent title

Screw the refs. All I care about is having the ability to throw and COMPLETE a deep pass with a one on one matchup on a DB.

Right now..it's nonexistant. The DB will always..always always swat the ball away, using his incredible 52" vertical and eyes in the back of his head.

When the CPU can consistently bring their safeties on a full on blitz, leave their DBs on an island, and I can NEVER make them pay by going deep on them..it's pretty frustrating.

I have not had that problem. I think it determines more who is your QB and how to lead pass. I have completed many one on one lobs over the DB head on PA streaks. I have not had the game very long either yet.

While the CPU DBs are too good, I would certainly not go so far as to say "NEVER." I have completed more than my share of deep passes, but I think this usually depends on your receiver. Mario Manningham and Early Ducet have both caught a lot of bombs for me. I think it's all about speed. If you get a receiver with about 96+ speed, they can burn DBs.

This is on my 360.

Re: We are close to a perfect game

The game basically needs a new physics engine, better AI and an entire overhaul in presentation. In other words, the game is far from being 'close to perfect'.

Re: We are close to a perfect game

Agreed, until they move away from the old motion capture animation systems I don't think we will be close. Motion capture animations make the football games feel old. I've played these games for the last I don't know how many years feeling. Football gaming needs new life and I think it starts by moving away from the motion capture prescripted/canned animation model.

I've had a decent amount of deep ball success, but i only throw deep to guys who are either really fast, or really big. A 6'0 guy with 88 speed isn't going to get the job done.

Thankfully, my receivers are 6'5" (with 99 speed), 6'5" and 6'7", so they can all go up and get it.

I just signed a 6'5" receiver with A+ speed. I can't wait to see how he looks when he gets to school!
