How to join Season Showdown?

You know the only way I could figure it out is to go into Season Showdown and look at the Ohio State Buckeyes list of individual fans and scrolled down some and there was my nick. Surely there must be a better way but that's the only way I could figure out to do it.

Play a game. I was never asked to join (I only picked my favorite team) so I didn't think I was signed up. In my first game I started seeing +strategy/sportsmanship/skills points while playing so I knew I was signed up. You can pause the game and see the team you're signed up with and the points you've gotten for that game.

Since it seems to automatically enroll you in it, how do you get out of it? I didn't sign up for it last year because I knew it was going to be annoying and here I am this year being forced to deal with it. Can we turn it off?
