Its not they get it before them its they dont care about the actual release date so some of them let it out of the box early.

Big retailers probably have boxes of them in the back a week before the release.

I guess that is true on bigger games like this. I've pre-ordered some stuff and they got it in the day before, maybe the Friday before.

Actually 3 weeks before the release date most of the time.

Once it goes gold it starts printing and shipping. So yea sometimes it can be really ahead of schedule. Duke Nukem Forever just went Gold and it isnt released till June 10th.
