Hah, I remember back on the original Xbox having this happen. back when there were SI covers.

I was Texas and was ranked #2 all season in the Coaches and BCS, the AP poll had me at #1.

the last week of the season I beat NU in the big12 CCG, the 2nd time to do so which further hurt my schedule difficulty. I then slip behind #3 ND who beat a high ranked USC to finish out their season.

I go to fiesta bowl as #3 BCS team but still #1 AP team with BCS#1/AP#2 Florida playing BCS#2/AP#3 ND in the Sugar Bowl NCG. I win and ND upsets Florida. the SI cover says something like "Robbed!","AP #1 Texas splits national championship", or something like that. but I split the national championship with 1loss ND but they won the BCS title while I had the AP title. it was pretty cool but kinda made me mad.

It's been pretty much beaten to death, but yeah, the ranking you see is your ranking in the coach's poll, not the BCS poll. The NC game is between the top 2 teams in the BCS poll, not the coaches poll.
