FIFA 16 or FIFA 18?

Just got the Slim and I am looking for a soccer game. I have most all of the games for the PS3 PES and FIFA and am looking for an inexpensive game to start the collection. I understand 16 used the Ignite engine 18 uses Frostbite. The new engine has caused some problems with the game some have said unless I misunderstood.

I know the ball is bigger in 16. Dies 16 still offer a better gameplay experience than 18 with nearly identical graphics save maybe the crowd?

FIFA17 & 18 both share similar problems that make them frustrating games to play:

- The body shield button is OP and is way too efficient at winning the ball back, which causes the physical aspect of defending to be very easy and the attacking/dribbling aspect to feel frustrating and limited.

- FIFA18 has a very long power-up time for passes on manual controls, which is very annoying and slows down the pace of the game unnecessarily and unrealistically.

FIFA16 doesn't have these issues really so it's a much more responsive game and the dribbling has more freedom.

IMO FIFA16 manual controls is still the prime football experience.

FIFA 16 for dribbling and realistic defending.

FIFA 18 for better and realistic CPU AI and pace(you can easily tell the difference between fast and slow player).

FIFA 16 is said to be the PES 2014 of the franchise, the AI always passes the ball around like barcelona no matter who you play, and I never met anyone who actually likes it.
FIFA 17 is much better, and using the second controller to give the CPU custom tactics is a game changer.
FIFA 18, from what I've seen (don't have it), is much like 17+, the career mode is better I hear, especially in that when you transfer list someone, you get offers for them real quick unlike beforehand.

18 is on sale now on PSN, so you may want to get that

I don’t play online so I can’t speak of the shielding being OP. With that being said 18 is one of the best sports games out there period. I’m not a huge soccer fan but I played a ton of 17 and quite a bit of 18 so far. 18 is better in so many way especially the crossing and the talked about shielding mechanic and the AI is immensely better. 17 I felt like the only way to really play was thru passes and speed but 18 has opened up the wings as a viable option. In general it just seems more tactical.

There is a huge issue in Fifa this year and this is the cpu defending of the wings. It's very easy for the player to cross into the box. On the other hand the competitor (PES 18) is scarily realistic in how the cpu defends crossings. Full backs in that game put their feet and body to prevent the crosses. This leads to realistic deflections of the ball.

I dunno man I suck at PES and 90% of the goals I score are on crosses. The biggest issue is no one misses the net and everyone finnishes like All-Stars in PES.

Personally I haven’t had any issues with crossing being OP or players defending them in FIFA. But the underlying factor good be that I suck at PES and am pretty good at FIFA.
