Defending the long pass

How do you do it?

I played on world class in Serie A with AC Milan and usually let the computer score 0 goals or at most 1

Playing on pro now in the Premier league, the computer scores frequently. I can't stop the long crosses into the box and the computer heading it in

Re: Defending the long pass

If I see a computer player in the box, I switch to the nearest defender and try to cut off any possible cross. I press the "Call a second Defender" so one of my players challenges the computer player who is about to cross.

If the computer gets the cross off, then I try to "jostle" for position. If he still ends up with a better position, I try my best to push him so he gets off a poor header. By doing this, I've found that I can cut down on the amount of good headers/goals the computer can get off.

Re: Defending the long pass

Portsmouth is about the only team in the PL I have trouble stopping the cross with. Crouch is a monster in the middle. Usually I just play the standard four man back line and head the cross away. If it is close to the goal I tell my goal to step up and catch it.

I may try this

Usually I end up defending the player making the cross and not the targeted receiver

As it is, I barely have any time to switch players and try to get in position to block the cross

I may also try to get rid of Almunia..

How Do I "jostle" or push the player for better position?

Re: Defending the long pass

I've tried defending this both ways. Covering the crosser and covering the CF/ST in the middle and using 2nd defender press to help with the crosser.

From a switching standpoint, I have the setting in two clicks from the left. You can cover the player crossing and you'll automatically switch to the player in the box with the best chance to make the play.
