Ultimate Team: explain?

so, this mode - its a combination of card collecting to create a team and online tournament. does it satisfy some of the same thirst we have for a manager mode?

are you (os community) excited for it?

Re: Ultimate Team: explain?

I was one of the "founders" of UT 09...this year has made massive improvements. A big issue last year was that there was no incentive to not have the best team imaginable (5 star-all players 99 because you were able to improve player ratings) so I basically played none online...and even hating playing against AI opp. spent hours and hours. I was really disappointed with a lack of incentive for tournament play-prize money was same as regular game but u get achievement for getting all trophies. Chemistry was nice idea but you basically had to have too many people from one country to get high rating. All of these have been fixed- tournaments available now online/off where there may be a limit on how highly rated your team can be (but you can have a lot of teams- not sure how many exactly)- with prize money eligibility even if you don't win the tournie. You can't improve player ratings (unless temporary card applied-good for one game). Chemistry much more elaborate this year- chemistry interaction not sectioned of to midfield only defense/gk or st. For 400 microsoft pts I'd say its a good buy def, even when u consider if you're like me u may only play for a month until the WC demo comes out and I will inevitably will be disgusted with fifa 10.

Re: Ultimate Team: explain?

Last year’s iteration was pretty good, though I did feel like there was a bit of a grind aspect to it if you wanted to build a team of players you had actually heard of (unless you wanted to spend real money to buy card packs). And I agree with everything the poster stated above.

I’m looking forward to this year’s improvements.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a substitute for Manager Mode. It lacks the seasonal aspect and the progression of a team through performance.

If you’re a soccer fan, I think it’s definitely worth checking out (I believe there is a free trial).

Re: Ultimate Team: explain?

Its really good.

For the price, its really good value.

Its 10x better than Madden UT.

I'd give it a trial. Its very fun. Although its very tempting to buy gold packs with money, playing games to earn coins is still a viable way to play.

My team rating is 80 (4.5stars) and i've spent nothing on packs, although i had to devote quite a bit of time to the auction house to get great deals.
