Re: Official EA Sports Roster Update/Discussion Thread

I think QB said yesterday that according to the EA Facebook page the roster isn't due out until next week now.

It's really getting frustrating.

As a project manager, I do find it slightly unacceptable to miss your deadlines this many times. If you've given a time frame to your customer, then you have to meet that time frame.

Meh. Life goes on whether they hit their deadline or not. It's not like the roster is a cure for cancer and the longer they take the more people that are going to die. I am just happy that they take the time to do an update at all.

PS To sticky this without the roster update being out is very rude.

It's not about life and death. It's about someone's job.

If your job was to run a particular report every day and you were to deliver it to the executive team, but you only did it on Tuesday and Thursday. Then cited that it wasn't a cure for cancer ... guess what happens?

The developers have a contract with the paying customer. They are to deliver roster updates (as this is a standard in sports games). They specified the time frame. They missed the time frame.

Someone missed their deliverable. Sure, if I look up, the sky is still there and the sun is still shining, but it doesn't mean that they didn't fail the customer.

True. But if they didn't provide that service in today's market - the NHL would be an obsolete product.

No self-imposed deadlines have been missed yet.

They said this week. This week is not over.

Who said they had to give us a roster update, I don't see anywhere in their Terms of Usage where EA says they are legally required to give us a roster update.

Not trying to be an ***, but they will give us the update when it is done.

Re: Official EA Sports Roster Update/Discussion Thread

Just because it isn't contractual doesn't mean it isn't an obligation. If you tell your friend you'll help him move on Tuesday, and Tuesday comes by and he calls you and you tell him you'll help him tomorrow, you've still committed a grievance. Sure, it's a small one, but think of all those times you stubbed your toe and swore - it's not cancer, but it still hurts. This is a pretty lousy thing for EA to do, missing their self-imposed deadlines, especially for such a huge update like this.

Roster updates are a standard in sports gaming, and if a company released a licensed product like this and said they weren't going to do any roster updates they'd lose a lot of sales.
