Hmmm I played one game online and it seemed faster paced. I was the Bruins and i could not figure if it was because of there ratings going up.

I don't think people are annoying with your opinions, it's more the way you present them. Case in point -- calling people liars. I understand that you're frustrated with the game, but please don't stir up trouble here by accusing people of lying...

I think every roster update has a few tweaks in it which is great....what sucks is they only have a few roster updates and not weekly ones like other franchises or EA products.

I'll agree with an earlier pster that I am just enjoying the hell out of this game and I don't play a lick of it offline.

I can't believe it but I'm seriously on pace to play at least 1000 online ranked games...i think i got my moneys worth if i do that huh?

$60 bucks, 1000 games is not bad at $0.06 cents a game.

Too bad they don't have the Mats Sundin signing yet. But I'm thinking Vancouver may be used even more online now. 2 lines of scoring, decent defense, stud goalie (although I wish with updates you'd be forced to play Sanford).

Re: Does the new EA Online Roster update-Dec15 make it easier to score?

I'm glad to hear others are experiencing a drastic change since the latest Roster update. I remember a similar thing happening in NHL '08.

I mostly play online, and I was not enjoying the game as much post patch, pre roster update. I know am enjoying the game much more now. I feel if I get down early on a soft goal, I've got a lot of time to get back into the game.

I don't play too many games offline, but I tried on Super Star last night, Boston Vs. Washington. I had a nice variety of goals. I scored on a One Timer from behind the net to sniper in the high slot. A nice wrap around from Kessel, who had the goalie thinking the wrong way from a move I made behind the net getting the puck in a natural flow of motion. A Clean non deflected one Timer from Chara from the point that beat the goalie on the ice, 5 hole. It's possible to score clean goals, from distance, with good shooters.

I had a 3-1 lead with a few minutes left and choked to lose 4-3 in OT. Ovechkin scored on a breakaway in OT. The goals didn't seem cheap and it was more poorly management on my part. Overall nice variety of goals in SS mode. I could not score in that mode to save my life before.

My only concern online is that the one timer across the crease seems more effective again. How does everyone defence that. Swinging poke check, or just hold the face up on defense "Vision" button and hope your D will intercept? I can smell this play coming with certain players online and still have issues stopping it. I had more success just holding the "vision" control button online against a certain individual using this tactic each rush into my end.

Overall the game is back in my books.

i havent had this much fun with an nhl game in a long long time.

the game post patch is way better, period the end..

also, only reason people seem to be annoyed with your thoughts, is that you post the same thing over and over and over in multiple threads etc. we get it, we know how you feel. its just to bad you cant see the variety others see..

so move on already..

thanks
I don't really mean to call anyone a liar. I guess I am just frustrated with this game. And largely because it was great before the patch and now it is ruined for me. I know that I can delete the patch but I will be continually asked to update every time I boot up. And NHL 2010 will have the patched code in it.

As far as my posts are concerned, they are not about the exact same thing. Inevitably they turn into the same thing but that was not the piont. One of my posts was asking about a goalie ability slider and/or the shot blocking slider. That post turned into the "same thing". Same goes for my other posts. This one (which I didn't create) is suffering from the same fate. Now this one will be considered another posts where I am complaining. The bottom line is that I want this game to play well and realistically. I love NHL games and I am beyond frustrated. I check this forum every other day or so to see if any new developments have happened that might make me get back into it. As far as putting the game down or trading it in. Well, I don't trade games in, ever. And I have put it down. I've been playing Rock Band and Fallout 3 now. I have moved on but I hope something happens (like the title of this forum might suggest) that would allow me to enjoy the game.

I am envious that you are getting goal variety if you are but I simply am not. I am not great at this game but I know how to play hockey (I play in real life) and I watch every Blackhawks game on NHL Center Ice. I am pretty good at the game and know how goals should be scored. Again, I played about 10 consecutive games taking only shots from outside the slot and never scored one cleanly. That, to me is a problem. So again, if you are getting wrist shots that go in from the wing, slap shots that go in from the blue line (every once in a while, not all the time mind you) I would love to see a video of it to see how you do it. I remember a video of a guy saying that he scored a clean slap shot from the blue line that was non-deflected and non-screened and when I watched it there were 3-4 guys in front of the goalie. That's screened.

As for everyone that continually says, "how often do goals go in on an NHL goalie that are not deflected or screened"? Well, not often. But they to happen. I remember about 10 years ago Al MacInnis winding up for a slap shot at almost center ice against the Red Wings. It looked like he was just going to dump the puck but he fired a slap shot that had to have been 99mph+ and he beat Chris Osgood cleanly. That, will never, ever happen on NHL 09.

Brian Campbell scored a non-screened, non-deflected slap shot the other night against Edmonton. I can never have that happen on NHL 09. Its frustrating. With that being said I'm sure many of you guys will continue to flame me and that's fine. That's the nature of the beast for internet forums. But I hope that EA sees this and considers that the game is slightly more unrealistic in some people's opinion after the patch.

I'm not meaning to stir up trouble. I guess saying that people are liars is a little overboard. So for that, my bad. I love this website and check it, as I said before almost every day. I don't mean to become a person who comes on here and continually complains. I'm just trying to enjoy this game. That's all. This site has helped me to make sports games more realistic (MLB the Show 08) so I am hoping this forum can do the same. I'm going to give NHL 09 another try when I get home today. It is the last day of school before Christmas break (I'm a teacher, not a student for the record) so I will have some time to try out the game after the new roster update. I have not played NHL 09 in about a week. If I score a slap shot goal from outside the slot I will probably jump through my roof.

It's cool man, glad you understand. I also work in a school and looking forward to spending some quality time with the game offline over vacation. Here's hoping you'll be in need of some shingles for that roof...

Re: Does the new EA Online Roster update-Dec15 make it easier to score?

I think it just all comes down to sliders. Like I said, I play position lock and love playing that way. So maybe I see more "variety" because my teammates are CPU controlled, so it's more exciting to see Kane do a slapper from the blue, or Toews pull off his drag move and score.

The goalies are killing me though. I might adjust them all to Stand Up because they drop too much...even on hybrid.

For scoring from the blue line, adjust your SHA and SHP sliders...I have my SHA at about 5 and SHP at 3. Some games I see 6 goals, others it's 2-1... but the SHP should help with scoring from farther out.
