When it works correctly, the custom music is a great feature for this very reason.

Dissapointing.
Custom intros for ALL teams would add a TON of immersion value to the game. We also have a "towel man" in St. Louis... after each goal he stands up, swings a towel around and the the crowd yells the goals in order.. 1, 2, 3..

Re: Presentation, Presentation, Presentation!!

One thing people forget is that the music in the arena's is copyrighted by the artists that made the songs. In order for EA to use that music, they need to get permission from the song writer to use it in the game, unless they are generic "hockey" songs. For example, "The Hockey Song" by Stompin Tom is not in the game, yet it is played in almost every hockey arena. I think a lot of people don't understand this and get all mad. At least they allow us to use our own customer music.

And I am fine with presentation as it is nw because I completely understand that if they want to add dynamic crowds and multiple refs, we would lose room on the discs and all frame rate may be an issue. I truly feel that we will see major changes once the new generation of video game units comes out.

Yes, it is very hard for EA to include custom music because they would have to do alot more work to get it when compared to the arenas.

However, I can't agree with your statement regarding presentation. The NHL 2k series, for a number of years, was better graphically than EA's titles and all of the referees were present on the ice. The NBA 2k series, even the Madden series has paid more attention to detail concerning presentation.

EA NHL shouldn't be given the "Cop Out" that oh, they won't have enough space on the disk and so on. This just isn't completely true. It all has to do with how they code their game.

Re: Presentation, Presentation, Presentation!!

EA has worked a lot on their skating engine and I get that. I really don't think I want to waste my time fighting.. but I'll reserve judgement when I play 14.

Presentation has been neglected for a LONG time now and I'm sick of feeling like every game is the same in terms of presentation. It's stale and some freshness is LONG overdue.

Do we really need "Fight Night" fighting in the game? Not if takes away development time they could put into a complete presentation overhaul.

Look at the NBA 2k series, that's how you do presentation.

Fighting is part of the game and very effective, presentation is something that is not.

Effective at what? I agree it's part of the game, but I watch every Blues games and have seen maybe 1 fight in the last 6-7 games. It can help momentum, maybe make players think twice about running one of your star players, but in a video game honestly, I prefer work on other parts of the game.

To each their own though, but to say it's more important than a presentation overhaul is ludicrous.
