NHL 15 Next Gen Thoughts...

I flat out agree. I haven't played Live but own both FIFA (the only game I play almost every day) and Madden. You look at those two games and basically they are just ports with some small upgrades and tad better graphics. FIFA looks like the bigger graphic upgrade IMO. I am absolutely addicted to FIFA though. The physics, movement, and AI upgrades are just remarkable. I cannot even imagine how good the game can be in the coming years. It takes the right sliders to get FIFA playing a solid representation of soccer but that seems to be the case with almost every sports game these days. Madden is also a solid upgrade but I just don't enjoy football as much as I used to due to guys celebrating after every single play.

For me I am just struggling waiting for information to roll out for The Show and NHL though. I know we've got a ways for NHL info to come out, but I am just excited to see what they do. They have the full year to develop a game and although I am in no way expecting something ground breaking, I am definitely expecting a nice improvement. I am sick of not having an NHL game that I can consistently enjoy. If the next gen version features more strategy and better AI alone it will be worth the buy. EA's motto for Next Gen games has been marketing better AI so hopefully it holds true for NHL as well. I haven't anticipated an NHL game like this since NHL 07.

I will also say this. I think the break from NHL this year will help me a ton especially heading into Next Gen, which hopefully will be a much different experience on Next Gen consoles. I've never ever taken a year off from NHL gaming until this one.

Great post to EA's forum. Enjoyed the read and agree with you 110%. Hopefully someone from EA reads it!!! The current EA NHL team has either become completely lazy, or they don't have a clue what fans of the franchise want (other than 8 to 13 year old's that want to expose every glitch goal in the game). Lastly I really question the teams overall hockey knowledge. Anyone who has ever competitively played or has been a hardcore fan for years can see that game play is broken (and has been) the minute they pick up a controller.

I can see them screwing us and only putting it on last gen consoles. Announcing that nhl 16 will be the move to next gen, i hope it doesn't happen but it would not surprise me at all.

If it's going to be the same ol' game with a bit better visuals then I hope they do only release it for current gen hardware. Anything less than NBA2K14 quality and presentation, I'm not buying it anyways. Do I hope EA gets their S**T together and offers a mingblowing NHL15 experience for next gen consoles, absolutely. Unfortunately with their last several offerings on current gen I'm not very optimistic.

I mean lets face it... NBA2K14 has authentic TATTOO's on every player!!!! NHL14 doesn't even have authentic player likeness (faces). Matter of fact certain players have not been given a likeness since the first release on XBOX360 and PS3 (i.e. about every player on the roster that ISN'T a top 6 forward... the only players I can make out on the Pens, Crosby, Letang, and Malkin. Everyone else looks like Mr. Potatohead.)

...visuals are by far the least of EA's troubles though. They need to start from the ground up for NHL15 on next gen.

I could see that happening but I feel like Microsoft and Sony would really put the pressure on EA to make nextgen games. People will buy consoles if their favorite games are on nextgen.
