From what I played the skater AI is possibly the worst its ever been. Directly comparing the AI to NHL 15 on the 360 its considerably worse. The amount of unnecessary turnovers on easy breakout passes is incredible. The AI goalies seem pretty solid though. If you're seeing really good stats it probably has more to do with bad human goalies as others have mentioned.
Man, I was really hoping to see maybe some change worth picking up NHL16 after sitting out last year. If the AI is just as bad, if not worse, then it's going to be hard to justify $60 again. The AI has been terrible for years now, as EA seems to focus on player vs player.

Disappointed with the beta. Was expecting more from a skating point of view. It almost seems the same. I figured you were able to strafe diagonally. It's more side to side. The skating still puts you out of position.

Re: NHL 16 EASHL Beta Impressions

Granted this is a beta, but there are some serious issues with EASHL that I'm afraid they won't address by launch.

Like others mentioned, it took way too much time to actually play a game and it makes no sense to me why I can't check on the "current game" status while waiting in the dressing room? At least what period they're in?

Once I finally got into a game, I noticed the skaters felt incredibly loose. Turning and strafing are way too difficult in my opinion. Everyone on my team complain that the skaters felt like they were rated in the 60's. Oh and those annoying, overpowered, frustrating poke checks are still used way too often. They need to limit poke checks with a meter and bring consequences from doing it every second you come into the zone. It is ridiculous. They need to seriously consider a defensive stick for future installments. And don't get me started on passing...

I really do like the classes idea but why not let us choose three classes instead of just one? That way line changes add in a whole strategy to EASHL. Wouldn't it be nice to tire your opponents line while cycling the puck?

Overall, I didn't feel, see or HEAR anything special in the beta. The previous gen had the right idea. It just hope the other modes got more love than this one.
