Re: NHL 17-best team rebuild

Why not the Florida Panthers? they are a playoff team and have some young pieces but they have aging vets in key spots. Right now I'm playing as Calgary and it's rather tough. I have Monahan and Johnny Hockey and 3 good defensemen, but that's it.

Then there's always Vancouver, the Sedins are aging and so is their AHl team.

Re: NHL 17-best team rebuild

As a Habs fan myself I'm deciding on a few possibilities. Here are my choices and plans for each team. Hope they help.

Toronto: Guide the youth movement by trading veterans for better assets. Build a remarkable top 6 defensive core. Chose a new captain to lead the dynasty. The fun part here is the prospects and younger players are already great in the organization. Your main goal would be acquiring the veterans you want to surround them with.

New Jersey: Acquire a top 2 D-Man to strengthen the power play while developing the rest of the defensive group. Sign some offensive free agents to round out the top 6 and use what you have for bottom 6 material. I would also find a new captain on this team and eventually relocate to Hartford to bring back the Whalers.

Dallas: You have two big pieces to work with in Benn and Seguin. Any other piece is movable. Strengthen mainly the defensive group and for the love of God, find these guys a #1 goaltender.

Calgary: Similar to Dallas, with a few better pieces on D. Get these guys a goalie and keep the youth movement rolling.

Vancouver: Trade the Sedins and begin the next phase in Vancouver. Youth is pretty good over here and veterans are needed. For the most part this is similar to the Toronto rebuild but you'll feel less guilty enjoying it.

New York Islanders: Always a go to team for me. There are good pieces across the board but they're missing depth. The fun part on this team is finding a number 2 centre to play behind Tavares, a quarterback for your power play on D. Goaltending is decent as are the bottom 6 forwards and the rest of the defensive core so most of the work is already done. Some veteran presences can benefit this roster as well.

Detroit: Build a team for Larkin. Make him your Yzerman, and go find a Shanahan, Fedorov, Holmstrom, Lidstrom and Chelios. Mrazek can be your Osgood/Hasek.

Enjoy!
