Franchise cpu vs cpu help

So I'm doing a franchise with an expansion team. I'm still learning, so I do cpu vs cpu for my game.

It makes me do 20 min games. I went to options and changed it to 9 min. Heck, I tried when I start a game. As the game started up, it's shows 20 min.

Am I missing something? Is the clock accelerated?

Yes it's accelerated. Slows down for power plays and the final minute of a period.

The bolded is an option, actually. Powerplays will run at real time if you max the "Penalty Time Scaling" option in the rules menu.

The final minute thing is not optional, sadly. I think it's actually the last 10 seconds of the 1st and 2nd periods, and the entire final minute of the 3rd.
