Pro or All-Star?

Guys, I'm in a dilemma, and I need some help. I just can't find the difficulty level that makes me truly happy.

I like the aggressiveness of the CPU on All-Star, I like the neutral zone pressure and the general pressure of the CPU. With the right slider adjustments the game feels very competitive, and in most of the games I have a chance to beat the CPU, and win maybe half of the games I play in franchise mode.

On Pro on the other hand I think the game plays more organic, and I see a way bigger variety of goals: slap-shots, wristers, tip-ins, one-timers from the point, you name it. On All-Star I very rarely score with a wrist or slapshot, most of my goals are deflections or cross crease one-timers. On Pro however I almost never see breakaways, which happen regularly on All-Star, for me and the CPU.

Another problem with Pro is, that even though I gave the CPU lots of advantages with various sliders, I win at least 8 out of 10 games, while on All-Star I pretty much have an even record.

I wish there was something in between the two. Does anyone feel the same? And how do you handle it. Any sliders I should tweak? I'm thankful for any tips!

I also like Pro with difficulty slider maxed.I find All-Star the goalies are like brick walls.

Re: Pro or All-Star?

I have all difficulty sliders maxed out, and gave the CPU advantages in all shot accuracy sliders, aggression, poke checking, stick lift and all the goalie categories. However I still win too many games. Don't get me wrong, I like winning, but I'm 24-7-1 right now. With the Senators. Yeah, right

Ok.. First Question I have for you is DO YOU PLAY FULL CONTROL or POSTITION LOCK? The answer to this question makes 100% difference in how the game plays. So with that being said

IMO opinion the offline modes are made to be played in POSITION LOCK.

If you pick a position and actually play that position like it supposed to be played this game is off the charts good. I have noticed that if you start running around the COU will eat you alive, but if you play solid positional hockey, you know like IRL the game plays exactly like real life. If you play arcade style controlling every player on your team then the game plays completely different. Just my opinion and many others agree.

Anyway This is the BEST set of sliders out there by far

Give them a go..you may be very surprised at the results!!!

Hope this helps

Thanks for all the advice, appreciate it! I tried position lock, but to be honest, it's not for me, I want to control my whole team.

Cycloniacs slider are great, always have been. But the thing is, I don't have time to play 12 min periods. I maybe have 3 or 4 hours a week to play video games, so I'm not really interested in spending one hour on a single game in NHL 21. I play 5 min periods, so I can make some progress in franchise mode.

I'd be happy, if I could just make Pro a little harder, or see more variety of goals on All-Star.

Re: Pro or All-Star?

I could send my settings to you if you will like to test my sliders. I play with 6 min periods (PP time goes a bit slower, so you have real chance to score on PP), Superstar level balanced so that AI feels not cheating. My aim was to make funny to play, challenging but fair gameplay with quite realistic stats.

Re: Pro or All-Star?

I like Pro but it's too easy overall so I'm on AS which is definitely tough but I sim all away games so if I'm .500 at home it works out.

Re: Pro or All-Star?

I've found that my Pro sliders give me a much more organic experience than my AS sets. My set makes fatigue matter a lot, reduces shot accuracy, buffs goalies a ton, makes passing a lot less automatic and sloppy, and also involves setting the CPU strategies to a level where they pressure and attack the puck much more than default.

That being said, idk if Pro offers enough challenge on the defensive side of the puck for those looking for single-team experiences. I'd keep trying to balance AS and severely nerf the goaltending sliders to try and get that organic feel on AS. This is why I chose to not play this game in single-team experiences because the game just isn't where it needs to be for me to enjoy those modes.
