I don't understand the question, why would you care what anyone thinks of you for spending your own money on something, would you make a thread asking if $500 is too expensive for a new TV.

One of the most bizzare threads I've ever seen.

Get to Division 5-6 and you will see plenty of behavior that will annoy you. There are so many good players in those divisions, but for every good player you have 4-5 cheap tactic spamming morons. The clinch spam is out of control. So no, I don't feel bad or anything close to that for buying packs and remember this, most people who have a problem with it probably cannot afford to do the same thing. It is more jealousy than anything in my experience.

I think lots of people don't like paying to play because they don't like the EA business model of continually soaking people for money. I guess it's gotten to be more acceptable these days as people are either coming into that business model with nothing else to compare it to because they're young, or they're just biting the bullet and realizing that this is how stuffs gonna be from now on.

There's actually nothing bizarre, or weird about it at all.

If you buy an expensive TV, that's not going give you an edge over me when we go outside to shoot some hoops.

Pay to win is a frustrating mechanic that's not hard to comprehend at all.

Makes you miss the 3 dollar caf boost from UD3, play through career mode, make a dope *** fighter, then boost him up to have some great wars! 3 buck in EA will most likely net you sh*t

However I feel like, being an average player, progression is very slow in this game, for me anyway. Ignoring daily objectives I make about 500-800 coins a fight if I'm lucky. I have a full time job that takes up most my time and I only really get a chance to spend 1 hour or so playing a day. This all means that I barely ever have enough to spend on a premium pack for example. Especially when I can't seem to save my coins and blow them on a pack at my first opportunity. Would I be looked down upon if I were to drop £80 to spend on event packs to upgrade my fighter in the future?

I realise that some people might call me a douche for doing so as they've probably grinded for their 85+ fighters and are mad this seems a bit pay to win. However I simply want to give myself a better chance of playing and competing in higher divisions and the only way I could see myself doing this is by spending some money on packs to give me a wider variety of moves on my fighters therefore giving me a better chance of learning different moves and becoming a better player. Just wondering what most people think of this really, apologies for the wall of text but if you have read this far, thanks for reading I guess.
if you buy anything make sure its universal. that way you can apply the cards where you want. I actually sell all cards that arent Lightweight.
i sell them right when i get them 5 star 4 star doesnt matter i sell all NON light weight cards regardless if they only give me 500 coins.

they are totally useless to me.

How people choose to spend their disposable income is up to them

Whether it's junk food, a night on the town or EA points. It's makes no difference. When you go into the game, you accept the TOS. Buying points is an option within that.

And again, welcome to Ultimate Team

I guess the way I see this is just different than you see it. I think if you can't afford to spend money on your hobby or have no disposable income maybe you should be trying to find better employment rather than playing video games. As far as the claim that it is the "younger" crowd that spends money on these games, I'm going to have to call BS. I was born in 1982 and remember playing Atari 2600 and the beginnings of the NES. Some of us just made better life choices and aren't burdened with kids we can't afford or aren't afraid of work. YMMV.
