Cage involved double and singles as mentioned.

Someone mentioned an under hook/overhook halfguard, which you know makes a world of difference Mr. Blue belt.

And a body triangle from back mount and sitting. A real stamina Sapper.

The thai/body lock clinch defense like a high guard; a push away or push aside.

Also I would love to see a head control position in clinch to complement the plum.

More variable rocked states, more than just dead body, or stankly legs.

Plus some more signature techniques?

Probes

Shifts

Signature sways, double as shoulder rolls for philly shell etc

Dashing/lunging hooks (tyson, hunt, lombard, hendricks etc)

I gave the game a good run through. The improvements over the first game are remarkable and definitely the step in the right direction, so cheers devteam on the great progress made over the last title- I gave it a little time to really compile a reasonable list of suggested further improvements:-

DLC fighters: Larkin, Cyborg, Jouban, Tumenov etc
Clinch defense stance (like the takedown defense stance with R2+rsdown, but with R2+rsUP)
Multiple hairstyles (McG shaved head, JBJ no beard, Cerrone handlebar etc)
Moveset editor

Probing gauge/head control mechanism (rutten style rear dangling fist feints; JBJ probing jab etc)

Rothwell style square stance, shuffling between southpaw and orthodox, more stance choice

Stepping strikes (foward + jab = dashing jab; left/right + jab = darting jab, back + jab = lean back jab etc)

Varied animations, Jacare generically feels not much different than Maia

Strike variety (Overeem/McGregor- high knee; Weidman/Arlovski- rear backhand; Cormier- leaping jab; Silva- front crescent kick etc; Diaz- Stockton Slap***)
Switch/Shift strikes (sefo style) (was in ea ufc 1- bring back at least for fighters like Wonderboy, Lee, Tyson, Cruz, Dillashaw etc)

Dynamic extensive techniques (romero style ankle picks, guard pulls, imanari rolls, leg scissors etc the L3 & R3 buttons are available)

Leveled strikes having fighter uniqueness (GSP level 5 jab animation drastically different to a McG jab etc)

360 head movement + free 360 multi directional foot movement**

Ground and clinch taunts, please get rid of the generic taunts.

Overeem/Boetsch style tosses and throws (already present pushed against the cage in thai)

Elaborated clinch system (targeted isolation- wrist, throat, ankles, high crotch, legs)

More sub variety (standing arm triangle, subs from distance, krazy horse style sub escapes etc)

Hand fighting and positional manipulation (pushes, pulls, tilts, turns)

Variety of whips

Playing possum (+sways on the ground etc; werdum feint hurt etc)

Increase parry window and include strike catches like ufc 3 (parries should have special attention, be reworked- shouldn't be parryfest)

Increase leg kick check damage and incorporate a deeper bleeding block according to arm damage.

Decrease heat seeking strikes, stationary strikes by default and stepping strikes for more explosive movements.

Decrease bum rushing, check hooks etc should have serious stopping power

More guards standing and ground (Peekaboo, philly shell, drop guard, cross guard, de la riva guard etc)

More positions and animations (leg control, x guard, body triangle, hooks, etc)

Less combo spam cheese, reward finesse and realistic offense (make missing shots more risky)

Less hit and run, closing the distance with explosive charging and dashing strikes (Lombard/Hendricks style rushing)

Plus any other I might have forgotten feel free to add your own. I hope we get some slick changes in.

Pulling guard when rocked

Hendricks style explosive movement cover lot of distance;

Preemptive defense, already present with moving your head to the left and throwing a hook but hoping for more fluid chaining

Switching stance during a strike for different angles

Power Straights- Cain, Diaz, Conor etc

Probe

Movesets

Hopefully some sort of functionality added to L3/R3 like UFC3 used to have rolling leg locks from distance etc.

For more positions specifically on the ground:
Body triangle

Leg control from guard etc

Granby rolls, scrambles

Striking into and out of subs, Can opener

Stacked half guard/ leg control positions for ground specials
all of this is great i would love to see all this in the next ufc game although some of these moves and animations are definitely gonna be a challenge for the devs to put into the game.

Ok this is getting me really hyped up for the future patches now. Can these animations really get patched in via updates? If so this is beyond awesome. Anyways someone on here mentioned something that stood out as like a new mechanic, and they had said physics based takedowns. That would be so awesome if this could happen, "no takedown will look the same." Like Madden but for UFC. In real life this is true, so this would be the best way to replicate the sport imo. Credit to TheSouthpaw's idea just wanted to bring it up because this sounds awesome and this whole thread mannnn I'm hyped!

Re: What grappling positions are not in EA UFC 2 that you wish were included?

This game lack of takedown animaitions. The spin single leg looks good. but there is only spin single leg is boring and so bad. we needs more takedown animations and then into ground position.

- Takedown to side control from double under-hooks in clinch against the cage
Please.. bring back this takedown animation. This is really good and realistic. Why removed this? I really hope that bring back this animation in the next patch.

1. shoots for single leg takedown to half guard
I really hope that bring back this takedown animation, too. Why removed this?

-shoot single leg to half guard in EA MMA. I think, this animation is really good.

2. shoots for double leg takedown to full guard or half guard

-shoot double leg to half guard in EA MMA. Looks really good.

-shoot double leg to full guard and then seated against the cage in Undisputed 3. It's really good.

3. kick catch takedown to full guard
GSP's leg kick catch and takedown to full guard.

4. Persistent takedowns
I have seen a lot of this in real life. If someone failed single leg takedown(or catch an opponents leg) but he still gripped an opponents leg. He push an opponent til the cage wall and then finally success a takedown.

Thank you so much!!

Re: What grappling positions are not in EA UFC 2 that you wish were included?

Definitely cage positions and the butterfly guard. Don't care if it's not as used as it once was, it's a legit guard position that should be in for those that uses it.

We need a legit body triangle position too imo.

Also what Tissues posted!

And Zhunter's list.

And that idea you gave for the double leg takedown.

ALL OF THEM. lol

But really, is that something we should expect in a upcoming patch or are those ideas to keep in mind for UFC 3?

More likely for UFC 3 if there is one.
