Please God (Or O.S.) Help Me Defend Submissions!

Well, this is embarrassing. I DREAD going to the ground because I know I just can't defend.

The AI seems to do whatever it wants, and when I'm locked into a submission, I just can't escape. I try and fill up the bars, but the AI blocks it lightning quick.

I have NEVER escaped a submission in this game and it seems impossible for me. I really like this game but Iv'e had to put it down because I lose to submission in every fight.

What am I doing wrong? Is there more to this than just filling up the bars with the R stick? Please guys, I'm desperate for help here.

Thats pretty much it dude you have to advance all the way to the end of a gate to escape. It sounds like you are getting caught in a subs with low stamina, not good! Much harder to escape!

Do you know how to deny sub attempts?

How many gates are you trying to fill? With th AI it's easy enough to just go back and forward between 2 gates, hold one way until it stops then change direction and repeat. Online try 3 gates, change what order you go don't keep going the same Direction when they advance and mix up the speed in witch you change direction.

I run into this all the time online, newer players have no idea to defend submissions and I have to explain it to them. I normally use a variation of one, two, or three gates for defense. I hold direction until opponent goes that way and the gate stops advancing. I immediately switch to different gate. It's kind of hard to explain, of you are going against another Gundam that's good you will probably lose almost every sub attempt.

Imo it's much easier to do sub offense than defense.

I've noticed with the CPU that using 3 gates will expose a gate that will fill quicker. Usually that gate will stay like that if you mix the other two in. Just watch for that gate, and only use 3 gates.
