Adding a button press to catching kicks?

Counters from caught kicks are very powerful in this game and I'm learning to be very mindful of when I throw them because of it. I don't have an issue with that, but I feel like the majority of the time people aren't even anticipating the kicks, they're just blocking low and happen to catch it.

I would like to see this be a more specified action from the user with the use of an additional face button. Whether guessing wrong on the catch also results in eating the kick altogether is a separate issue, but I'm just posting this to gauge how others feel.

Like the old parries? So adding a kick button? I wouldn't mind.

I wish we could block the free shot and there would be a block meter depletion so after the 3rd or 4th caught kick that counter would break the block.

I disagree.

I do think it could be interesting to allow the punch to be blocked, though, maybe at least partially. It would make the TD options more interesting.

The free cheesy strike that rocks you after they catch a kick needs to go away if you block it

We need an ARM Grab Animation or smth to defend it.

Once somebody catches your kick, you should be able to time an arm grab or a takedown block.

Like getting mounted and have the opoponent posture up

IMO though I think the catch window should just be shortened slightly; and damage from body kicks increased slightly

If you are 'good' at defending body kicks you should mostly be blocking them, not catching them.

At this point I either land a body kick or it's caught. It's almost never just blocked. I thnk a blocked body kick should be easier/more common than a caught kick.

It'd be cool if your block skill was associated with your ability to catch kicks --- lower block skill = less chance to catch

Yes, I’ve had kicks caught but I don’t think it is as bad and as easy as it was. If you set kicks up now you can punish someone. I think the balance is fine atm.

i think just adding a block to the punch but with more bleed through after a few could be the answer we're going for realism after all. it's weird that you cant block
