Circle out animations

Can these be patched in? There’s no good way for fighters to reset and keep pressure fighters at a distance.

The current footwork options are slow and encourage players to stay in the pocket causing the rock-em sock-em robots gameplay style (strike-block-strike-repeat). The advanced lunges help when slipping strikes and countering, and the backwards lunge was definitely a step in the right direction, but again, only really allow players to move within the pocket; leaving them vulnerable to combos.

Consequentially, Players are forced to rely far too much on blocking for striking defense, whereas footwork is the primary means to avoid strikes irl MMA.

What we need is an ability to move quickly side-to-side to circle out and reset. I would also like to be able to backpedal away from fighters throwing a forward moving 1-2-1-2. This type of defensive footwork is very common in MMA, and not really possible in the current game.

Yeah I like this. I do think some fighters (eg. Pettis) have some kind of footwork circle out animation but it is more aesthetic than actually useful.

I’ve seen some backpedaling/side-stepping animations with Pettis and mcgregor, and they look really good imo, but don’t really have any gameplay impact that I’ve noticed.

What we need is a circle out animation that costs stamina but allows players to quickly move out of the pocket. It’s a “small” tweak that would help counter inside fighting and make defensive options more realistic

Re: Circle out animations

Forget circle animations. Footwork don't mean **** and lunges suck now. Lunges and stamina on whiffed strikes needs to be fixed.

Fought a Jacare yesterday that threw 162 strikes and only landed 47 in round 1. Starts out round 2 with full stamina? Wtf is this pos game supposed to be?

I would argue that footwork doesn’t mean **** bc players can’t exit the pocket to avoid combo spammers.

Lunges are good for boxing inside the pocket, just like head movement. But other than the backward lunge, there’s no way to exit the pocket and move out of the way of shots.

If we could circle out, we could at least move away from punches, gas our opponent’s temp stamina via a missed combo, and reposition to throw a strike/combo of our own.

Actually the points are interlinked. Both points are about movement in general. I know this break tos by default but its a valid point of view.
