Oblique Stomp Glitch

Just came across someone playing as Yoel who literally threw nothing but that and won of course. Name was EK SHHHH and that is literally the only strike he threw I have a video clip I haven't uploaded, but it's on my Xbox.

Come on guys.
This is ridiculous.

I can barely even play this game anymore because half my fights are ****ing ludicrous and it's just trying to manage the spammy bull**** people are doing to me because it's so easily exploitable.

Best defense shown for it so far is TDs, so I would ask for more GA on oblique/side kicks.

Are you not able to block them or back lunge?

No I'm able to block them like normal but when someone throws a normal leg kick, you check it and it does damage. There's a risk to throwing 18 of them in a row. There's no risk to throwing the 18 oblique kicks because all it does is make my character slide back or land and do damage, either one good for the person throwing it. My only defense is to get away or low block it which prevents me from attacking. I don't know how this could be fixed or how I could have stopped him because I did everything imaginable to try and hit him, but all he ever threw was the same oblique stomp. He never opened up to be hit unless he was throwing that attack that is only blockable in a way that does nothing to him and renders me unable to attack.

Takedowns are never a reasonable option for me online because everyone seems to be able to deflect **** easier than me on some connection nonsense that I don't understand. Offline, CPU's and homies can't ever do anything to me cause I deflect it all. It's a running gag in my house now that I will out loud predict someone's grapple attempt and still fail to deflect it for whatever reason regardless of my actions.

Do you not use TDs or clinch? They provide GA now.
You can ask for increasing it on oblique/side kicks but you can definitely use that.

You would have to find a gif of someone checking a straight kick, it should be possible but I'm not sure it would be as effective as it is against round kicks.

You can't check linear kicks, it just doesn't work in at all the same way. Like, I guess you could do a checking motion but it wouldn't hurt your leg basically at all, or no more than a connection to the knee would.

Checking round kicks works because you're causing them to kick the thickest part of your shin or your knee with the thinnest part of their shin or their foot, which really hurts, it doesn't work for linear kicks because stomping on someone's knee is already the goal of that kick, so you don't really achieve anything.

I mean it might hurt to kick the knee with the soft part of your sole. The knee flexes and disperses the impact when planted. But, I still don't think it would be very effective.

Not saying that you should be literally able to check it.
The dude just shouldnt' be able to win the fight by only throwing that same strike. There's no actual defense to this tactic. Please, someone get a friend to help you with this if you don't believe me as I can't upload this clip at the moment, I'll have to show it later. But you can't realistically fight someone doing this to you. The guy only threw that strike and nothing else.

Pretty much.

This is all I could find in a short search on checking straight kicks like oblique/side kicks etc.
