I've felt like that about that band for over 10 years. Hate them with a passion.

I can't stand Roth either. M. Anthony is the only one I like still.

Anthony has always been the civil one in this band. Roth was out there and his mouth got him into trouble with the boys. Hagar, I think he did what they wanted..........but he about had enough of Eddie's **** not once, but twice.

IMO, both Anthony and Hagar were for the most part innocent as the Van Halen brothers have been the root of the problem. Compare Roth and Hagar, Hagar even though pissed off at what the VH brothers have done to him has for the most part kept quiet after the first incident that broke up the band. After the 2004 tour, Sammy did come out and say a few things as he was getting tired of Eddie's drunken crap on stage.

Roth has been the most vocal over the years. Anthony has been quiet also until the last 2 years or so when he started playing with Sammy.

Come on, when you have gone through 3 singers/Original bassist in 20 years and you blame 4 people for problems...............who is to blame?

And the saga continues...who saw this one coming?

I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.

I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I'm doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.

I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.

Love,

Ed

That moron is the cause of all Van Halen's problems. Go to rehab and lets hope we never hear from you again Eddie "LGD" Van Halen.

Re: Van Halen's new lead singer is..........

I mentioned this before but want to recap. I really hope Eddie gets it together. Addiction is a horrible disease. I have even seen it destroy some of my friends lives. At least he's coming forward and saying he has a problem. Also, the fans won't have to pay alot of money to see him f-up a concert like I did a few years ago. I bought 3 tickets for 150 dollars a piece to see VanHalen and did nothing but brag up how great it would be to my wife and nephew. I saw VH in 92 and they tore down the house. What I saw at the last concert was a bad attempt of Vh emulation. Eddie's infamous guitar solo sounded like a sound check for a bad garage band. Very little of it made sense with heavy slop hand to boot. He even stopped in the middle of the solo and just looked at the audience because no one was getting into it. He looked like he was going to lose it on the big screen. So,what does he do? He says"Excuse me for a minute" lights a smoke and takes and big drink of something, probably alcohol. Sammy and the others saved the show. Mike filled on alot of Ed's vocal parts. The show lasted a little over an hour and a half. Yeah-I feel ripped off,who wouldn't? 450 bucks for that? This is a long and boring read, I know-and if you made it this far thanks for listening. Maybe with Ed getting help we'll never see another letter like this on the net or anywhere.

If you think that was bad, towards the last leg of the tour in Chicago, my friends went to go see them. I didn't get a chance to see them during the '04 tour which was a bummer, but I'm glad that I didn't spend the money. He was so blasted, he would take lay down on the stage for a bit not playing at all. He was starting all kinds of trouble on stage similar to what you mentioned, but was also being a jerk to Sammy and Michael.

Re: Van Halen's new lead singer is..........

Take a trip down memory lane with me to better VH days for a minute...1978- I was 17 years old,my first concert I ever got to go to. VH was opening for Black Sabbath . Sabbath was on their "Never say die" tour. Halen opened. First song, all you see is flashing lights and Eddie's "electric toothbrush" sound on the guitar pounding out the song Atomic Punk! I was in music heaven. I was about 10 feet away from this throughout the whole concert and never heard anything louder in my whole life. It was amazing. The whole band was spot on. Eddie's solo,hmm-I'm thinking, did Hendrix give this boy lessons? He was so skinny and full of life. I was sold on him as the best guitar player I ever heard and the only song I ever heard from them before this show "you really got me". They did every song from the first album except "ice cream man". For a finale after about 25 minutes of blasting through everything, they came back with "purple haze" by Jimi! Then,When Sabbath came out, after about 3 songs, some people were calling Halen back out! I've seen them many times since and although they were good, nothing quite like Halen when they were young and hungry for stardom.
