Awakenings: really enjoyed it; two great performances from Robert di Niro and Robin Williams. Will have to check out the book.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Been going on kind of a Jackie Chan kick lately. In the last like 4 days I have watched like 9 of his movies. I always enjoyed how me mixed fighting with humor and just the over all creativity in his fights. Watching new police story for the first time right now had no idea they made one after super cop and I guess there is even one more after this one. Some of the movies I have watched the last few days are ones I had seen but not in years and some are ones I have never seen before. Rumble in the Bronx, who am I and Drunken master 2 are all so good. The end fight in Drunken master 2 is so funny but also shows just how skilled he really is. So much speed in his fights.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Rewatched a few movies lately.

Knives Out: saw it in theaters, my wife hadn’t seen it so we rented the other day. Fun, funny. I think I liked it more the first time, but being able to know the outcome as it’s unfolding was a different perspective.

Into the Spider-verse: absolutely loved it first time around, this time I got to share with my son as he’s getting in to superheroes more. I loved the art/animation style so much. Gritty without being too over the top for kids.

The Big Green: probably seen this movie a million times, we had the VHS growing up. Almost like a soccer version of The Sandlot (including Ham & Squints), but it’s wild the kids movies and some of the underlying themes to the conflicts (illegal immigrants and alcohol abuse in this one) that you realize now as you watch as an adult. But that is real life and kids are smart. Are there still movies made like this anymore? I can’t think of any, but I’m not exactly looking. I’d love to share some modern movies of this type instead of just passing on what I liked as a kid growing up.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

finally got around to seeing Treasure of Sierra Madre, a film from the 1940's.
a fantastic little movie especially considering it's in black-and-white.
my only problem, I was disappointed how the Bogart character turned out

Bullet Train

It was fun. To be honest it probably did fall a bit short of expectations. For the most part it walked the fine line between just silly-fun and silly-dumb just fine, but there were several moments that just seem to miss their mark.
