Re: Snow White and The Huntsman

I've always thought Charlize as a more elegant, more beautiful type of woman as opposed to being "hot" or outright "sexy."

That second picture of Kristen in Jay's last post is scary.

Saw it last night at the midnight showing. Thought it was damn good and very well done. I just think people will knock on Stewart b/c of her Twilight history but I thought she did well. The CGI was done very well and Theron shined as the Queen.

I'd watch it again when it comes out on Blu-Ray

Re: Snow White and The Huntsman

It felt dragging but I'd rate it a 6/10. The cinematography was fantastic, I must say.

I thought Stewart wasn't bad, although I still don't see much range in her facial expression (adding a S is debatable). Theron as Ravenna was over-the-top but she was totally captivating given the script. I was more interested in her than Snow White.

Biggest laugh out loud moment for me - when the mirror said Snow White was fairer than Ravenna (Theron). Ahahahaha! No.

I saw it this weekend. I thought it was going to be a lot more darker than it was.

Re: Snow White and The Huntsman

My wife and I saw it last night. I shouldn't have read Ebert's review first as it raised my expectations a bit too high (he gave it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars). My wife really liked it and wouldn't mind seeing it again, and I liked it but can wait for bluray to view it again.

It was a beautiful film, very well thought out design-wise with immersive, imaginative settings. Loved the seaside castle and the enchanted forest especially. I don't think any of the characters were developed quite as much as I'd like (and I don't remember any of the dwarves names), but it was a good story nonetheless.

Also, I really liked Helmsford in 'Thor' and "Avengers" and he was solid here (I wish they would have done just a LITTLE more on his grief/anger over his wife).

I'm also a fan of Stewart. I really loved her in "Into the Wild"; I feel she was well-directed and did so much with so little time in Penn's film. She was good here, but as has been said, she needs to 'stretch' a bit more to become a great actress...she isn't there yet.

Charlize was great, always professional and pretty menacing here. As with most actors, I think she enjoyed being the villain

To end, I'll just say that it's a good tale, but it's worth a view just for the journey through this movie's realms. Beautiful.

Although this might be the most unrealistic premise in the history of cinema. In what universe would Charlize Theron ever be jealous of Kristen Stewart's looks?
LOL, it's funny but that didn't occur to me last night, good one!

Theron is more striking than Stewart, no question. What Kristen's got going for her is vulnerability, glowing skin, beautiful hair and eyes, and her wit/intelligence, IMO anyway. Women are very subjective and we all have slightly different ideas of what's attractive.
