ESPN LINEUP $19.99 in 2005

According to this story there's a strong possibilty.

Another year of sports games at $19.99 "BRILLIANT"

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/11...s_6111980.html

McNealy believes his findings have proved that the company's sports lineup can be profitable at a $19.99 price point--the likely sticker price for the current generation product next year as well.

Hopefully the whole industry will come down. Madden still sold like crazy though at 50.

Brilliant. Alot of people gave this years games a shot because the price and I feel like many were impressed by it(now the majority of the males in my school plays ESPN NFL or NHL). I think if they were to put out a bit more polished titles in 2005 than it would be huge.

Thats great if ESPN stays with this strategy then EA sports will most likely lower there prices. Not to $20 but maybe a 10 or 15 doller drop. Once more and more people realize that espn videogames are good games at a good price, than more and more people will buy and I think EA will have no choice.

thats just my 2 cents.

I would love another year of $19.99 price tag. I gave ESPN NHL a shot just because of the price tag and I think it might be my favorite sports game online. I almost bought NBA 2K5 because of the price tag and will def get college hoops.

With prices like that, more people are to give it a try. I bought NFL, NHL and NBA all this year and plan on buying College Hoops too.

We need to be clear about something, though. Is it more sales of Sega that we want, or a better product than EA's, regardless of the cost? I'm not sure you can have the best of both worlds, as we've seen this year that the games aren't quite a steal at the $20 price.

I feel they're EASILY a steal at $20. Yes, the game(s) may have had frustrating bugs or quirks. But each title was easily more feature-laden than it's EA counterpart, and arguably either it's better or at least, equal. Having the games at $50 and releasing a month or two later isn't going to guarantee games that are relatively bug-free. It's interesting how quickly people forget the huge sales disparity that existed between VC and EA's titles in the previous years.
