I guess my real problem is that the ratings in the game are way over the top. 90’s should be reserved for a few players only, and only in their prime and after establishing themselves as superstars over several years. It’s goofy that the average player is maybe 75-80. The average should be 50, with lots of players below that. This would give the ratings some real meaning. As it is now, the players all play too much the same IMO, especially OL’s and DL’s.
I have an edited roster where I dropped everyone’s ratings by 70%. And I can turn any player into an instant superstar by upping his ratings 15-20 points higher than others in his position. Example: my HB’s overall ratings average 20 because their average Break Tackle is maybe 25. By upping someone’s Break Tackle another 20-30 points, the guy goes from average RB to league star. And his overall is still only 60 or so. So I have all sorts of room to create players of varying ability: average guys to genuine all-time superstars.
BTW: this roster plays great; in fact, even better than with default ratings I feel. Plus I get to keep all the sliders @ or around 20, and then move them up or down slightly, according to the team I’m playing etc – which was the original purpose of this whole project. I can’t stand having to play with sliders @ 0 or 40 in order to get the game to play decently.
