How do you recover an onside kick?

What's the stratagy to retaining the ball off an onside kick? I've tried it so many times, but the cpu just bites me everytime.
Got any tips?

Where should the ball be kicked? At the ground? In the air? Closer to the sideline? Farther from the sideline?

Turn off illegal onside kick.

Honestly, I don't know... never actually recovered one myself either.

Re: How do you recover an onside kick?

I did it!! For the first time in NFL2k5 I recovered an onsides kick! **APPLAUSE** Thank you! Thank you!

What I did was line the arrow up about a quarter of the way from the maximum right position. The arrow is pointed (vertical height) so that the tip of the arrow matches the level of the ground. I start the kick meter and boot it at just above half power. The ball takes a high bounce, travels the necessary ten yards and then I creamed the receiver of the ball, forcing it out of his hands and back into the air. In the commotion, one of my players scooped it up in the pile.

Now keep in mind, I may never recover another one again!! Luck may have had a lot to do with it too!

Depends on the player you control. If it’s Steve Gleason, punch the nearest defender in the crotch. If you’ve coaxed Bill Romanowski out of retirement and are playing as him, spit on whoever comes near you.

And not that T.O. is man enough to play on special teams, but use him and simply accuse the other team of being g*y. That’ll stop them in their tracks. ;-)

Re: How do you recover an onside kick?

I aim the kick as far down as possible (as to bounce it off the ground) and try to kick it as much into the center of the field as it allows. Maybe around 80% power.

But overall, the best way for me is aiming down to bounce the ball, and getting a decent amount of power into it. Also, make sure you have some fast players out there, not slow lineman.
