Historic roster site

Sorry if you guys already knew about this or if already posted:

http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/rosters.nsf

Not much on characteristics of the player, but names and stats are there.

Re: Historic roster site

Isn't there a site that has images of players so we can get the equipment and jersey numbers? I thought I saw it in a roster thread, but I can't find it now.

Matt,

Not that I ever found. What I do is go to ebay.com and type in the player's name. Lots of football cards up on that site. You'd be amazed at who you will find there for numbers and skin tone. I just went through the 62 Texans file and updated alot of the jersey numbers and a few skin tones.

The Pro Football Encyclopedia (Out of print) does have jersey numbers fopr all Superbowl teams from 1966-1985 (when book was printed). That helps a bit.

But there is no overall site that details numbers that I am aware of...if someone knows of one, I'd love to see it. There was one site that is now archived that had made an effort to do this for the rosters, but I don't have the bookmark anymore. Alot of the numbers were incorrect or missing anyway on teams before 1975 or so. I'll see if I can find the URL again.

Re: Historic roster site

since this thread now has 4 links to really solid historic sites, i'm going to add Capa's recent contribution from the rosters section for jersey numbers:

maybe a mod could move this to the rosters section & sticky it (or at least change the thread title to "Good Historic Sites")

please?

Re: Historic roster site

Found that archived site I referenced above...good info here...not 100% complete and some jersey numbers not accurate, but lots of info nonetheless.
