NFL 2K5 with new rosters vs Madden NFL 08 Xbox or PS2 version

For those of you that have played both (Xbox versions), which football game do you think is better? I know many here are biased toward NFL 2K5, but I would like to get some input. I got fed up with Madden 08 for the 360, so I bought it for the PS2 (to play on my PS3) and its a pretty good game of football. I also have NFL 2K5 for my xbox, but didn't play much of it when it came out due to my life being very busy at the time. My xbox is still boxed up from my move. Should I reconnect my Xbox to the HD and fire it up? I really need to play good NFL football.

I did the exact same thing last year. But I had 2K5 on the pS2 so there were no updates for me. I feel Madden on the Old Gen's are pretty good, but IMHO they still can't match 2K5 especially w/ all the roster updates and Finn's Editor. I actually bought an Xbox and Action replay kit for mainly for 2K5 and haven't regretted it since.

I think both games are good and play them both...the current and historic rosters for 2K5 available here are exceptional.
Definitely unbox the Box and play some 2K5.

Yes, I think I will dig it out of the garage (moved). I have a widescreen HDTV now (I didn't have it when I used my Xbox). Will I be able to switch it to widescreen? I think there was an option on the setup menu?

I remember buying NFL 2K5, playing a little, and thinking it was great. But, I was too busy at that time to really play enough (which for me, means I was REALLY busy, because I usually make time for gaming, even if it is very late at night, and I am exhausted the next day.)

Which sliders are considered the gold standard for it, if there is one?

You will find a few different slider sets here, but to be honest, it really all depends on how you play the game. If you are a Coach only guy, I have a set that work well in my opinion. If you control the players, then the caveat becomes it depends on how good you are at the game.

Bottom line, you'll want to up the cpu offense and lower the defense sliders a bit if you control the players.

But each guy here probably uses a slightly different set based on their ability and how they play the game. My advice is start with a set you find here, or from default, and tweak based on how you play and what your expectations are for the game.

I'm actually going to be buying Madden NFL 2008 for PS2 tomorrow because Toys R Us is having a two day only sale for the game and it's only $15.00. That's a steal and if the game is crap, I could sell it on ebay and get back my money.
