You know they did this on Mythbusters. I believe, in real life at least as I can't explain it for the video game, that what really effects the outcome of the coin flip which way the coin is facing up when you initially send it airborne. Oh, wait... maybe that was toast?

heh... I gotta google that later.

I can't even remember where I first heard that phrase. I believe it was my buddy Dave. You guys know Dave, right? Ha.

I do remember that I once heard Randy Moss tell that to Chris Carter at a coin flip AFTER they lost it.

Re: Heads or Tails?

It was toast, I believe.

Technically... it's supposed to be a 1:1 ratio from heads to tails. In a smaller sample size, it may look like one always wins, but it'll always work its way back to that 1:1. That is assuming that the coin is not weighted in any weird way.

So, then are we to believe videogame coins are weighted as they seem to favor Tails?

heh.

Re: Heads or Tails?

Well, I'm assuming a pseudo-random number generator is behind the coin toss. But any "random" generator on a computer is simply pseudo-random at best. Here's the wiki article on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random_number_generator

Basically... since the salt is going to determine the numbers, it can have the appearance of being weighted.

I don't know if they ever did a coin, but they did butter side up or down with toast. Good episode, although I've never watched a bad one.

great info. I love wikipedia.

All this RNG talk has me thinking of some other game that first introduced this concept to me. Can't remember what it was tho', maybe I'm confusing a couple of things at once... I can do that. It's on my resume.
