Help needed with the microsoft transfer cable

I've been waiting for a chance to download the new rosters onto my 360. I just received the Microsoft HDD transfer cable that I bought from amazon. I downloaded XPort360, plugged my harddrive into the cable and the cable into my laptop (XP)...but XPort won't recognize any harddrive connected.

I'm not really sure what the problem is...could anybody help? Thanks in advance.

What version of Xport? For XP, your answers can be found either in or through the stickied thread at the top of the page.

I don't remember which version I downloaded (I'm at work so I don't have access to my laptop), but it was whichever version that was linked in the stickied thread.
I probably should have read through the rest of that thread before I asked. Thanks for the help! I'll check it out.

I am having the same problem and have read countless threads and tutorials and FAQs on the subject. I have a 20GB HDD, the Microsoft DMC, and am running Windows XP with SP2 and cannot get either the latest version of XPORT or XPLORER to recognize my 360 HDD. I have tried running both as Administer, I have tried updarting drivers, I have tried EVERYTHING it seems and still cannot get my computer or XPORT/XPLORER to recognize my 360 HDD. Good luck and let me know if you find a solution!

Yea I read the entire thread and still nothing. I've tried on my laptop and my PC (both running XP) and still nothing. I have no idea what the problem is. Its getting pretty frustrating

I've read that the 20g HDD is screwy. I'm not sure if it's the same for XP (I have Vista) but you may need to right click on xport and choose "run as administrator" (again, that may be specific to Vista). This helps it "find" the HDD. Again though, I've read that the 20g HDD has been hit or miss for many.
