Penalty question

I'm playing the 2k5 against the Broncos. Cutler throws a pass and Shantae Spencer picks it off and runs 80+ yards for a TD (great play, broke two great tackles).

The booth calls a review and rules that its an illegal forward pass and instead of me getting a TD, Denver loses 5yds and a down.

Anyone know if that's the correct ruling on that play, seems bull to me.

If it was in fact an illegal forward pass, you do actually lose a down and yardage.

Speaking of penalties I had a strange one I've been meaning to ask about. 2nd quarter, about 30 seconds to go. My team is on defense. Line of scrimmage is about the opponent's 30. The CPU throws deep, and it gets intercepted! But, I hit the QB late on a LB blitz...roughing the passer. I was assessed a 44 YARD penalty and the CPU kicked a field goal. What's up with that?

Figured as much.

Talk about getting jipped, I had an interception return for a TD called back and Denver got a FG out of it

Ya, the def. pass interference slider can actually get too high. It's too bad we don't see a variety of penalties in the game that correspond to the variety that's listed.
