Data transfer cable only good for ONE use???

I'm talking to someone at Xbox Tech Support, and he is telling me that these transfer cables are only good for one use.

I tried to explain to him that I'm transferring a file from my computer, but he still insisted that the wire is only good for ONE use.


Can someone please tell me that isn't true? I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe this wire *From Microsoft* is only good for one use.

Sigh.... I know you posted in the sticky talking about this. That sticky will tell you. If you want the details its in the thread. If want the short answer, i have used it more than once. It will pay off to read the thread so your not back in a day asking about everything getting erased

EDIT: SORRY its in the other 360 conversion thread. Either way its talked about faily often.

I already read the sticky several times. Everything the sticky has said to do, I've done. Both on XP and Vista. I've even had someone who HAS transferred the roster file over WATCH me do it and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.

LOL Tech Support hardly knows what Xport 360 is.

And they are "unable" to help.

I'm the same boat brother. I do it exactly how the guide says and I'm am getting no where, on both XP and Vista...it must be a NY/NJ thing...lol

I've used my transfer cable for 2k5 rosters about 5 times now. Still going strong.

i'll fire out a thought here, and if i'm wrong i'm sure that someone will clarify...

the people at xbox support see the transfer cable for ONE purpose: moving your stuff from a smaller hard drive to a larger one. beyond that they see it serving no purpose.

it's people on sites like this that have provided instructions on how to use it to transfer game saves...that's probably NOT something the people at xbox want you to do or know (why, i would have no idea...just a guess). but they are adamant that the cable should not be hooked up to your computer as it could mess things up.

but it's probably wise that when you call to NOT go into your spiel about how you want to use the cable to move a bunch of saves. just tell them you have the larger hard drive and you need to transfer your games and such...don't worry, your nose won't grow longer.
