Next best football game?

Still My all time favorite. Played the entire 1983 season with a friend. It took 20 years. I have every stat on every play archived. I spent a ton of time putting it in Excel one summer.

Wow I still have all my statis pro games:

Baseball (1987 season)
Football (1992 season)
Basketball (1991 season)
Title Bout (boxers through 1987 plus made my own cards)

Statis Pro games rule. Hopefully I will be able to get my son into them when he hits 9 or 10 years old (5 right now).

Title Bout is fantastic. A true simulation of boxing. It is a great solitare game too. That is the big strength as well.

I set up huge tournaments of 32 heavyweights and use to play it every night (this was 15 years ago) I actually busted it out a year ago (my wife was cracking up) and did another tourny. Jack Johnson is a beast as well as Rocky Marciano. Ali and Marciano fout to a 15 round spilt decision with Ali taking it all.

Tyson was taken out by Ali inside of 8 rounds.

Larry Holmes made it to the semi finals and lost to Marciano via KO

Great stuff. The game has cut rating, boxer movement, special strategies you can use during the bout. Really in-depth.

Backbreaker has improved a lot from the original game's form with the latest patch. It's probably the most fun with a football game I've had since 2k5.

But they did screw up the run blocking a bit with the patch, so until it receives another patch fixing it (and a few other minor issues), I'd hold off on buying it. I'd recommend keeping an eye on it though because it has the potential to be a great game with a few more adjustments.

I would say Front Page Sports: Football Pro 98. If I could get it to run consistently without crashing, on my Vista laptop, I would be a happy, happy man.
