Ok call me an idiot, if you read this post before I edited it. I thought this was the actual new games ite they have on ESPN, I didn't realise it was a fan site.

I agree with what the guy said. Sega's advertising department is pathetic. If only they could get their foot in the gamers door they would surely sell more games. All they do is sit back and watch Madden have 5 page ads in magazines and commercials with 8 Pro-Bowl players hyping the game. I wonder which would sell more?

Two things:

A. More advertising would be nice, but last year Sega had a strong marketing push. I remember seeing that Randy Moss TD in slo-mo commercial about 10 million times last season.

B. Better reviews would also be nice, but last year 2K3 was rated higher than Madden in most publications.







Madden still outsold 2K by over 4 to 1


Many seem to think that the masses will give up on Madden just because of commercials and reviews. That will simply not happen. The hands-down most effective way to raise awareness for 2K is for fans of the franchise to reach out to friends who simply don't know just how great ESPN will be(hopefully).

Target the good football fans, ones who know the sport in and out. In reality, not many Maddenites are "casual" gamers or just doesn't like "real" football, like us 2k fans like to rant. To convert these guys you have to:

1. Separate 'em from the pack - A Maddenite in his natural habitat of a living room/basement with 5-6 fellow Maddenites is un-convertable.

2. Help them learn the game - Even the most experienced Madden player can get easily discouraged by the differences in game controls, speed and overall feel.

3. Hype the good sh*t - Make sure to replay some of the line-blocking, tackle animations and other little things that someone may miss while just trying to learn how to play.


Bottom line.

WORD OF MOUTH FROM A TRUSTED SOURCE IS WORTH 10 BILLION DOLLARS OF ADVERTISING!!!

Trash on other games? WTF you talking about? He was trashing on Sega more for needing to get there heads out of there asses more than he was trashing other games.
