Re: Most realistic sim quarter lenght?

4 minutes per quarter on sim is right on.

Look at last weeks monday night football stats. Total rush plays and tatal pass plays and compare to what you get when you sim on 4 minute quarters - it's right on target.

A lot of people say you count punts and kickoffs and field goals to get the average number of plays per nfl games which is around 120 give or take some. That's not true look for yuorself on link below.

I compared last years leaders in the individual categories to the leaders in 2k4 this is what I got

NFL Stat Leaders last year

Yards Passing

K Collins 4073
Culpepper 3853
Farve 3658
Brooks 3572

ESPN 2k4

Manning 4394
Warner 4066
Bledsoe 4049
Culpepper 4011
McNabb 4010

Warner Culpepper and McNabb were all injured last year so no telling if they could throw for 4000.

Rushing
NFL Leading Rushers

R. Williams 1853
LT 1683
P. Holmes 1615
C. Portis 1508

ESPN 2k4
R. Williams 1442
F. Taylor 1363
T. Henry 1354
C. Portis 1336

Pretty Close missing about 20 to 30 attempts off the actual carry attempts.

NFL LEaders
WR Receptions
Harrison 143 record breaking season
Ward 112
Moss 106
Moulds 100

ESPN 2k4
Harrison 90
Toomer 90
Price 81
Ward 80

Harrison won't put up 143 again but I think these numbers are off a little cause the Pass attempts are off by like 8 or 10

Now the whole reason for 4 mins was the crazy tackles being put up.

NFL Tackle Leaders

Thomas 156
Urlacher 152
Fletcher 149

ESPN 2k4
Spikes 195-27 AST= 168
N. Wayne 179-16 AST= 163
Arrington 179-27 AST= 162

Not as bad as the 200 or 300 hundred I heard about

I will simm some more season and see how it varies but I think I can live these numbers for now.

I actually made a mistake about the QB leaders. the list was NFC

This is the entire NFL Leaders

Gannon 4689
Bledsoe 4359
P. Manning 4200
K. Collins 4073
Culpepper 3853

So the Passing is almost perfect at 4 mins the only issue is the attempts corelating with the catches.

Re: Most realistic sim quarter lenght?

What I'm trying is half the season on 5 min...and the second half on 4 min...I am almost through the regular season of my franchise and check out the league leader results...

What Quarter length do you guys use in your games. If your going with 4 mins sim, what length do you use. RIght now ive tried 8, 9, and 10 and theyre all pretty good.

Re: Most realistic sim quarter lenght?

I sim 5 min quarters.

Hmm... but i wonder... am i the only one playing 15 minute quarters? The stats end up perfect after sliders are adjusted. You have to sort of take your time choosing your play (which is great for me because i like the strategic aspect) and hiking the ball (which you should in moist cases, sending motion and reading the defense or fake snapping). I can post sliders and results if anyone wants. But i won 24-10 as Browns vs. Ravens at M&T. Holcomb threw for about 180 yards, Jamal Lewis had 102 yards on 28 carries, and tackles were normal.

The other trick to it is that you have to watch most of the between-play cutscenes. Which is cool for me because i can watch replays and take a swig of my rum and coke. So playing on 15 min quarters is possible, but you can't be terribly impatient or rush to the line every play.

Oh yeah, and turn your penalties almost all the way up... way more realistic.

With 8,9, oe 10 min quarters i find its realistic. and usually i run about 20-25 seconds off the play clock on every play.
