This is a semi-cheese tactic, but an effective one. What usually makes punt returns so difficult is that the two ends on the "inside line" of the punting team always fly down the field WAY faster than in real life, and are always the first in your face on a return. Try moving the two ends on your line a few steps to the outside before the snap, and those two ends on the punting team will stay in to block.
You'll still have to avoid a lot of tacklers, but at least you'll have time to catch the ball and make a move 50 to 60% of the time. It sounds cheesy, but after a full Franchise season of using this tactic, my punt return stats are at right around the NFL average (in both numbers of returns and average yards), so the results are realistic. I've even taken a couple to the house.
BTW, I got this tip from another poster a while back, so I'm sorry that I can't remember his or her name to give props for it...
