I think your running style needs to conform to the player's ratings. For example:

High speed: Use tap speed burst instead of charging

High break tackle: Use the shoulder charge

High agility: Use juke and spin moves

High strength: Use the stiff arm

What happened to the different running styles they were touting around e3 time? I remembere specifically seeing one animation in which a runner was carrying the ball walter payton style in one hand like he was palming it. Maybe they just couldnt fit everything in this year. Well at least we know next year is going to be monsterous.
