I'm Madden lifer but I'm getting close to a ESPN conversion. So here are some questions.

1.Does this game have some kind of mock draft or anything to make you feel like the draft is anything more than a take the best available lottery. If you are drafting behind the Lions, do you have any idea if they are goign to draft the DT you want or go get soem running back?

2.Are there restricted FAs and franchise tags?

3.Are there gang tackles?

4.Can you successfully play as a defensive back?

#2 I think their in this yrs verson, 2k5
#3 Yes gang tackles are nicley done, they also record half tackles and half sacks.
#4 Not sure, I usually play on the line linebacker and sometimes saftey.

#1 Yes there is a mock draft in 2K4 so there should be one in 2K5.

dback as in corner or saftey?

Saftey play is great, it can be tricky to use a corner.

You can kick some a$$ playing CB in ESPN. I've done it, and there are several online players, depending on the scheme that they are running who will play CB every down.

I've always felt that being able to play as CB in ESPN is really underrated. Not to bash, but in Madden it's practically impossible. But you can actually play the CB position competently in ESPN. On default in 2k4, the pass interference was too touchy and the pivoting sort of took it away; I fully expect it to be ridiculously fun this year given the improvements to the directional control/transitional anims.

One more thing. I alwyas hear that Maddens franchise mode is better. What does it have over ESPN besides the over-hyped owner mode and the silly training camp?

If you're really curious then go over to Blockbuster to rent the game or buy a pre-owned copy. Two seasons ago this is what I did when I was curious about the 2K series.
