Blocking Field Goals

Yesterday I figured out a way to block Field Goals pretty well. I found the best way to get to the kick is to use the CB who is lined up at the line of scrimage(Field Goal Block play) and just turbo boost toward the kicker and press Y to block it. It was my first blocked field goal in a football game since NFL 2K.

Do you know if it's possible to tackle the kicker or holder before the ball is kicked? Yesterday, I used the defender all the way on the left and was able to get to the ball before the kick went off. I dove right at the holder and the ball, but there was no collision detected. The defender just froze in the air like he hit an invisible wall. They managed to get the kick off, but I should have tackled the holder.
