Espn kicks Madden 2005 Butt!

Now that I own and have played each versions of both Madden 2005 and Espn
2k5 (except the Game cube and Game boy), I personally feel that ESPN is a
much better playing game with animations that make Madden look cartoonish.
Espn player models are superior to that of Madden 2005.
While both are good games, each has its strong points and weak points.
I wish both would allow the user to use historic teams online with correct jersey numbers and names or at least allow you to use them in season mode.

Both franchises are deep, but I personally don't have hours at a time to sit in
front of a tv and truely get deep into either game.Which is the reason why
I crave the old custom season,so I can at least change the teams I want
(mostly the historic teams)and play a simple season with the teams I want to
use.
The only major advantage Madden has over Espn is still the running at full speed animations.Espn hits are much better than Madden. Both games really
need to improve the receiver's ability to fight for the ball in traffic.
Both need to work on the QB"S foot work and give the user more control
(although ESPN is better on playaction and sprint out passes)
Pass blocking, and run blocking on sweeps and other outside run plays need
improvement on both games.
Maddens kicking meter is tired. The real kicker is the way ESPN presents the game.Their halftime show blows Madden out of the water. Its exciting to watch the halftime show.I wish someone brought the old school Monday
night halftime presentation with Howard Cosell, that would rock!!!
At $20.00 a pop,man its hard not to support Vc,hell thats an ideal price for
b-day gifts and christmas gifts.Way to go Visual Concepts!!!

Re: Espn kicks Madden 2005 Butt!

I agree ESPN is good but there are things they need to fix--coverage on kick/punt returns--NOW they made it that you cannot get past your 20
Kicks--go in endzone too much
The gameplay--well there are things that madden does well and things ESPN does well.
Presentation--ESPN kicks ***
Graphics--models are better and kick *** but Id have to say fields, stadiums, weather in Madden are better
Cheerleaders--ESPN kicks ***--just could improve faces next time
Animations--some in madden are good but overall ESPN is better--more and especially QB throwing
Online--leagues need fixed in ESPN--need real schedules, play-off schedule and divisions
Havent played madden online yet
Audibles at line--Maddens defensive adjustments/strategies kick arse however Espns offensive audibling are better
The hit stick is cool
Franchise--ESPN is getting better but need to improve AI trading, etc
Hopefully next gen we get real 3d crowds waving towels, etc in REAL TIME and real puddles, mud to slide into and accumulating snow in snow storms
Features--custom soundtracks in game in ESPN kicks *** however storyline rocks too
Something both games need is PILE-UPS
Gang tackling--ESPN rocks
Madden double team audibles rock
Commentary--ESPN is better but needs real espn crew--Im sick of fantastic, you cant coach that, etc
Audio--need more chants in both games--NCAA kicks ***--need HOF in both games

Re: Espn kicks Madden 2005 Butt!

on the field if it were glitch free I would have to say its gameplay is a little better.

Off the field in franchise mode, they really have alot to do.

It all depends on what you like, Madden is a little more simplistic, but just as realistic when played on All-Madden, it is almost glitch free, and has an unbelievable franchise mode. ESPN on the other hand has like I said great gameplay when the DB's horrible AI doesn't flare up or you don't come across any glitches and has incredible graphics and presentation.

They are both great and as a football games, neither does more right than the other, everybody owes it to themselves to get both

Re: Espn kicks Madden 2005 Butt!

When you say both franchises are good.

I love ESPN just as much as Madden but I have to disagree.

The draft glitch, the cpu trade/contract/release player logic, and the progression without reason ruins ESPN's franchise for me.

Gameplay ESPN does a little bit more right than Madden (gang tackles mostly), but if you were really into madden last year you will notice they did alot of litle things to improve the gameplay.

The franchises are what seperates them as far as gameplaywise giving madden the bit of an edge, but ESPN compensates with great presentations/graphics/animations.

I agree. ESPN blows Madden out this year.

care to share your oppinions, I haven't seen two games in the same genre so closly matched, thats my oppinion though, the last thing I think is that one game blows the other out of the water.

both have great gameplay

madden has a great franchise, ESPN's was sadly mangled by flaws

ESPN has great graphics madden's is ok

ESPN has great presentation, Madden's is ok (tony bruno show is great tho)

Madden has great player ratings, ESPN's are ok

both have good sound, but poor announcing, which make me want to cry more is hard to tell

They each do different things better.

Re: Espn kicks Madden 2005 Butt!

The only thing that Madden has that me go "whoa" is that radio show with Tony Bruno. THAT'S IT. Nothing else. Everything else in the same in my book.

ESPN 2K5, in my opinion, took football videogaming to a whole new level with it's game this year. The graphics are all-world. The presentation is the best that I've seen in ANY SPORTS game in the history of sports games.

Maybe ESPN is like that 'new girl' on block. But that's one helluva a 'new girl' that I am loving each and every time I lay my eyes AND HANDS on her.

ESPN ROCKS!!

Re: Espn kicks Madden 2005 Butt!

for me i really just care about the gameplay, and i still can't decide. madden's defensive AI is alot smarter and tougher though, and I like the franchise, so I will be playing that more, but i still like them both about the same. espns gameplay is refreshing, the animations make the game alot more varried and look a little more real, but i don't really care for which one "feels" newer. if you go for the newer fresher feeling, that feels like a new thing, i can respect that oppinion its pretty reasonable, both games are great. I wouldn't know which to play if espn could have just cuaght there franchise glitches. weekly prep has alot of potential.
