2K5 default roster vs VCFinalUpdate

In checking my updated files for birth date errors, I just ran some excel scripts comparing these 2 original roster files & found some interesting & odd changes... here are the numbers:
--1937 players in the def roster after removing the 7 celebrities
--1948 in the final update
--157 def players were removed from the default roster for the update (guys like Mo Lewis & Marvin Jones)
--170 new players added in the updated
^i realize this doesnt add up, but there are several weird hiccups; like two Chris Watsons in the default roster

--1779 players in common across the 2 files
--DOB: 369 of these players had their birth date changed
^some of these were fixed to be correct, like Kellen Winslow whose DOB had been 1975 in the def roster... however, some were originally right & got changed to be wrong. Like LaVar Arrington got 10 days younger in the update.
--POS: 185 got position changes
--SPD: 837 got changed (405 increased, 432 declined)
--AGL: 1 player (Josh McCown) had an AGL change from 96 to 80
--STR: 8 players got boosts (no declines)
--JMP: 65 players got boots (Jeff Dugan declined by 1)

we already knew a lot of mistakes slipped through the cracks (as they do in all games)-- SPD for punters & kickers had been basically ignored in the def roster-- but it seems really odd that they changed birthdays that were already accurate. Bizarre 2KSports

Finn, you addressed this earlier but i wasnt clear on the answer:

in the VC Final Update roster, several of the new players had colleges listed in their info which were not in the default roster at all... eg Steve Neal is from Cal St.-Bakersfield

This is viewable in the editor, even... when I open Steve Neal from that VCUpdate roster "Cal St.-Bakersfield" is even in the college dropdown menu just above Cal.

So, has this new college somehow been integrated ONLY into the new roster by VC? Or is there a UNK# pointer which just hasnt been specified in the editor (such as for PBP or Photo indexes)
