okay, guyz , Im trying to decide how to classify weight of players

for example - welker - skinny
john henderson xtra large
terrell owens - large
Romo- normal

okay now when we are saying weight of player 300+ extra Large

250-230 large

210-220 normal

160- 170 skinny

need some feedback as im trying to finish my franchise roster

any ideas? im working on classifying speed too

I have my own setup regarding body type. It's as follows -

0 - 199 = Skinny
200 - 269 = Normal
270 - 319 = Large
320 - 450 = Extra Large

There shouldn't necassarily be a formula. Some guys body type should not always be lined up with their weight. Ex. Lendale White isn't 300 lbs. but he would be Extra large body type.

You can do it by BMI in the editor as well which would make Mr. White ex-large.

I agree with salhus- some guys look different than their weight. I made Earl Campbell either large or extra large to get the look I wanted.

For the most part, though, my XXL guys start at 300 lbs.

I recently re-edited gr's roster generally based on the following

QBs, WRs, CBs, SS & FSs, Ps, Ks - Skinny

O & D lineman - Large & Normal

Lbs - Normal

Rbs - Normal & Skinny

Fbs & TEs - Normal

Obviously, there were exceptions like J****ssell of Oakland was Normal, for example. but, basically, I used this pattern and took a look at the players after doing each team in a simulated game. Basically, I let the weight of the players dictate with these setting. I've played a couple of games with friends and they've commented on how realistic the players look.

BMI is the way to go IMO.

interestingly enough, there is a tremendous correlation b/w RB success in the NFL & BMI. eg Michael Turner has a much higher BMI than Jerious Norwood. Guys who lack the bulk (BMI, not weight) tend to really struggle at the pro level. Good article on this by Aaron Schatz floating around somewhere

You have to take into account a players height.

Wes Welker,imo,is short enough for his weight to be normal.

I think the skinny player model looks too skinny and only use it sparingly on say Marvin Harrison,Roscoe Parrish.Only guys under 180 and are tall enough comparatively.

Most players under 250 are normal unless they are relatively short,while most over 300,unless they're like 6'6 ,300 are extra large.Over 320 would be extra large.
