I have a great Idea... Creating a roster for released players.

Im not sure if anyone has thought of this . I was thinking with all the players being released and then being picked up off waivers and to practice squads. My thoughts were why not create a different roster set to hold all the 3rd, 4th and even 5th string players. We could take turns updating it. Add rookies ... when a player is added we just copy and paste the player to the updated rosters we are making now.. anyone thoughts? I will be doing this to save time as i have already have a months work of roster updating wasted. Just think we could have every player created along with rookies for next season .

FNG

who is interested ?

in order to do this I guess i can start from scratch with the last update by visual concepts. Rewrite over all the players with the practice squad players... hopefully it wont cause the rosters to freeze. This save us so much time updating rosters. Expecially for those who have worked hard doing the research to find the right cyber faces and attributes. Just think and archives of all the players created.

Re: I have a great Idea... Creating a roster for released players.

i do something similar every year--

i have one file containing 400-500 rookies, as they are constantly being activated/deactivated during the season

then i maintain a second file of veteran players who have not retired but are not on a roster & whom I don't have room for in free agency of the active roster file.

throughout the year as they get activated, I pull from these files as necessary

great, thats good for me to know.. so you never have came across freezing issues..also Puja when you copy and paste the player does it include all uniform changes as well as attributes? Is it possible for you to share file as it could save me time re-adjusting after all of these cuts.. i have to create over 50 players

Re: I have a great Idea... Creating a roster for released players.

well i have never used these files for anything other than "storage" of players for quick access so i can paste them into my active rosters... so i dont know about those storage files themselves freezing. i will share them

paste attributes only = just attributes
paste = everything except contract, college, PBP, years pro
paste exact copy = everything even including "depth chart value" (so if someone was a starter & you paste exact copy, the game will try to move the destination player into that same depth position. i dont remember if this applies contract

Re: I have a great Idea... Creating a roster for released players.

The contract also gets carried over and if it's a player who has one year left, he'll come up as [exp] next to his last name in the file you just added him to.

This is a great idea guys but is also why I decided two years ago to do "final" season rosters. That way, everything will be as accurate as to what happened in reality and creating one roster is a huge time saver and doesnt need any upgrading.

I'm editing my 2004 roster file now and the only reason why is because im now using NFL.com for all the stat information where as before, I was using ATS Consultants Ultimate Pro Footbal Annual for stats. Now, all my final rosters will be more accurate in terms of the 54 player roster, starters, backups and team ratings.

well... it wont happen again as this project is working so far... do the stats of the player get carried over to when you paste?
