A New Committment: NFL Head Coach 09

I've actually been playing this career for quite a while, just figured I'd transfer it over here as well. I like the interaction with it, so I might as well show off some more:P

Re: A New Committment: NFL Head Coach 09

Kiffen Replaced by Unknown
1/19/2009- NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Notre Dame assistant coach A.J. Dembroski has reached an agreement to take over the head coaching position with the Oakland Raiders.

Not much is known about Dembroski as he has yet to hold a head position in his career above the High School level, but what we do know is that he favors a West Coast style of attack with an emphasis on a power running game, similar to the offense ran by ex-Raiders Head Coach, Jon Gruden. Dembroski has a reputation for being very good at working with quarterbacks.

Dembroski has a big job ahead of him in Oakland, where most of the salary cap is tied up in a few players who probably don't deserve it. It'll be interesting to see how Dembroski handles the cap situation in Oakland in his first season.

Re: A New Committment: NFL Head Coach 09

2/16/2009 (14 Days until Free Agency begins)
With the Probowl now a week behind us, the 2009 off-season is officially underway, and some teams are starting to make moves in preparation for free agency. The Oakland Raiders have started off active, releasing G Robert Gallary, T Cornell Green, and DT Terdell Sands to open up cap room. Free agency opens in two weeks, and CB Nnamdi Asomugha remains unsigned. With the fans and media in the Bay Area already questioning the hiring of new Head Coach A.J. Dembroski, letting go of the teams best player would likely not be the best move the team could make.

The team still has the option to place the franchise tag on Asomugha, but to do so would count $8.25 million dollars against the 2009 cap, an amount the Raiders probably cannot afford to take on. Al Davis is known for laying down whatever amount of money it takes, but the Raiders cap situation takes it out of his hands.

Re: A New Committment: NFL Head Coach 09

Fri 2/20/2009 (10 Days Until Free Agency)

Adam Schefter
I'm Adam Shefter of NFL Network, and here's your Senior All Star Game update.

The season's over, and Miami is your new National Champion: Hail the Hurricanes. Now it's on to the draft.

The top seniors from around the nation met this week at the Senior All-Star Game, and a few players stood out.

Devin Mayo from Ole Miss really dominated the individual drills Tuesday. His combination of speed and strength have been on display all week. One of the top tacklers in the country, Mayo has all the tools to lock down the SAM position for years to come for someone in the NFL.

While Stanford's Jack English is the undisputed #1 quarterback in the draft, Kelly James looked very good at the Senior All Star Game, and his stock may never get higher than it is now. It's difficult to be overshadowed when you've just won the National Title, but James is starting to crawl out from under Jack English's shadow. His poise and leadership are among the best we've seen in a long time, and he'll make an outstanding consolation prize for the team who misses English.

That's it for now, I'll see you at the combine!

Re: A New Committment: NFL Head Coach 09

Mon 2/23/2009 (7 Days until Free Agency begins)
With the NFL combine now underway, we're starting to get an idea where A.J. Dembroski is steering the Raiders in his first off-season. The Raiders seem to be paying particular attention to second and third tier players, interviewing guys that could end up being second day draft steals. With the #4 overall pick in the draft, the Raiders are in good shape to trade down and add picks in the middle rounds, and we're expecting them to do just that to bolster a depleted roster.

Unfortunately, if rumors out of Raider camp are true, this strategy is more out of necessity than desire. It seems the team's free agents are almost to a man refusing to resign. Negotiations haven't even begun with punter Shane Lechler or C John Wade, and the team appears to be in crisis mode as far as replenishing a roster with 19 potential free agent defections.

Off-Season Week 2 Transactions

The Browns release G Rex Hadnot

The Buccaneers release DT Chris Hovan
